Television Reveals Our Deepest Nature, Sometimes

The CSI episode (CBS show, Crime Scene Investigation) which aired Thursday evening, October 23, was, as is common, about a serial killer. The killer picked random victims, drugged them to unconsciousness, and killed them in restrained poses, so when rigor mortis sets in (stiffening of the muscles with oxygen deprivation and paralysis of muscle cells) these people are posed in what the killer perceives as ‘artful sculpting’.

Toward the end of the episode, the CSI team discovers the killer has abducted a little boy whom he plans as the last in a series of ‘sculptings’. The frantic criminal investigators locate a warehouse where they believe the killings have taken place and rush to find the little boy. As the child is pulled free from the straps and restraints, unconscious, CPR is started when the boy is carried from the killing chamber.

The audience is left in suspense, momentarily: will the team be too late to save this child; will CPR revive this child?

I watched the end of that episode with tears in my old eyes, pleading in my mind for the little one to breathe. The tears were because I was thinking of how a viewing audience can be manipulated to cheer for that little boy to recover from the carbon monoxide and breathe, yet Barack Obama worked hard in the Illinois legislature to protect killing born alive infants —completely separated from the mother’s body— via forced suffocation of preemie babies left unattended to die alone. And it makes me cry that too many of my fellow Americans are going to vote for this ghoul from Illinois who used the suffocation murder of born alive children as a means to empower himself politically.

That’s a bit of a reach.

And why would ANYONE feel the need to watch CBS, except for football?

A bit of a reach? ... Hardly. Do you realize how the born alive children die in the killing method known as induced labor abortion, which Barack Obama worked hard to protect in Illinois?

And I watch CSI for intertainment because of my decades in the medical industry.

And yes, I know entertainment was spelled ‘oddly’ in the post to you.

I too watch CSI as I find the science interesting, however they often get on their little soapboxes, and amazingly they never seem to push conservative causes. Then again, if they did I would probably fall over dead!
I have to admit, I’m getting a little tired of some of the characters. I was sorry they killed of Warrick as I liked him, and I was sorry they brought back Jorga whatshername as I find her whiny.
I much prefer NCIS and Bones (altho both also have their stupid soapboxes).

Actually, there are one or two network shows that I quite like. I think NCIS (CBS) occasionally has episodes that are nearly as well written as "The Rockford Files" of another lifetime.

Regarding football, my disclaimer is there were days, in another lifetime, when I planned my angst level for the week depending on the fortunes of the Vikings.

Also, among quotable quotes came this gem: When the Bills were en route to losing their third or fourth Super Bowl, some reporter wearing clown shoes asked Marv Levy during a pre-game ritual grilling, "Is this Superbowl 'must win'?" I became a life long fan of Levy when he replied, "World War II was 'must win.'"

These days I'd rather watch paint dry than watch a Viking game. Dennis Green and the minions of that era and beyond took the fun out of expending any emotional caital in that direction. I haven't been able to get back into it since then.

I will allow that CBS is pretty much a collection of pimple headed pumpkin rollers.

Yes, I’m an old fool for the little ones: “The tears were because I was thinking of how a viewing audience can be manipulated to cheer for that little boy to recover from the carbon monoxide and breathe, yet Barack Obama worked hard in the Illinois legislature to protect killing born alive infants —completely separated from the mother’s body— via forced suffocation of preemie babies left unattended to die alone.”

I stopped watching CSI after they ran an episode about a sicko that replicated some of the old Nazi human experiments. It was graphic and disgusting. I’ve also tried to watch Bones a couple of times but it was also very graphic. I just don’t understand why these shows have to be so gory. And why do they have to be about serial killers or deranged perverts that kill people in the nastiest way possible? It’s just sick and I choose not to watch it anymore.

If the media wanted to care about the little ones, they could change the complexion, the perception, the embrace of abortion issues. They could, with such expert writers, image the preciousness of the alive unborn and just born alive infants, and end the empowerment of democrats who use the abortion of alive children for their capital.

I think it’s a reach because you’re missing the important emotional difference.

The kid in the TV show was a character specifically designed to create empathy in the audience. Aborted kids, born alive or otherwise, are basically a statistic. Even though the aborted kids are real they don’t feel real to the majority of people. The human mind isn’t good at grasping large numbers, and it’s really not good at turning number (even small ones) into objects of empathy. Aborted kids are “faceless”, it takes either a strong empathic nature or mental effort to link to them. TV show characters have faces, it’s really easy to empathize with them, that’s the whole point of the story.

Thanks for your reply, n00bie, but the abortion murdered children are the real and the TV the imagined. The point is, these program venues could change the course of our nation, from the evil Barack Obama protected in Illinois, to embrace the lives of these little ones, these real human beings.

Why are you getting insulting? I didn’t say anything even slightly rude to you or deprecating to your position. I simply pointed out why people are more able to identify with TV characters they see than real people they don’t. Really there’s no reason to start throwing around n00bie crap.

I don’t think the TV venue could change any of that. You still have the basic that abortion kids are “faceless” to the masses and won’t generate empathy. They are real human being but they don’t FEEL real to most people, and ni this case it’s the feeling that matter.
