"Homeowners are the innocent bystanders in a drive-by shooting by Wall Street and Washington," Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Wednesday.

Sen. John McCain says he will consider a second economic stimulus package if he is elected president.

"It never should have happened," he said of the mortgage crisis that has shaken financial markets, and it would not have happened if he had been president, he said.

McCain defended his vote in favor of the government's $700 billion plan to prop up the lending industry, despite his insistence that as president he would cut spending.

"Extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary actions," ...

McCain said he will consider a second economic stimulus package if he is elected president... He attacked Barack Obama, his Democratic rival for the White House, for saying that "when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

That is "certainly not something I would ever do," he said. ...

No..actually many of them operated with tremendous greed, just like so many others in this mess. There are many homeowners that should be renting, but they thought that a home was "due" to them.

“Homeowners are the innocent bystanders”

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? A lot of those folks chose to take on bigger mortgages than they could afford because somebody was stupid enough to lend the money to them. Just because they had an enabler doesn’t excuse their behavior.

I think he’s refering to responsible homeowners, who were also affected by this mess as their real estate value plummeted.

I think the wealth is going to be spread around no matter who gets elected...the big difference is how and to whom it gets spread.
