I should have called the cops and taken pics. Alas, I forgot to. Someone in the neighborhood didn't take too kindly to the Yes on Prop 8 sign Mrs JRios1968 put up in our front yard, so they "vandalized" it.
I say "vandalized" because the pro-soddomite decided that stapling a piece of paper that says "I'm a Republican homophobe...the 1st Amendment doesn't exist" was enough "damage."
Tonight I am spraying the sign with PAM and sprinkling pepper on it.
A 12 gauge.
Wayyyy too lightweight.
There are plenty of legal chemicals that will cause nasty chemicals burns if touched.
Someone on another thread said spray it with liquid glass.
Suggestion: purchase a video camera and a motion-activated lighting
of course you could do what I have done...buy a BIG DOG! LOL
It’s not too late to file a report.
Contact your local police department, non-emergency phone number and ask that an incident and/or counter report be filed for:
Vandalism.
Tell the officer/dispatcher the date, and approximate time you noticed the sign vandalized. If there is a $ amount for the damage, note that, too.
Ask for extra patrol.
Put your sign in a well lit area.
Ask for the report number.
If someone vandalizes your sign again:
1. Do not touch it.
2. Take a photo if desired.
3. Report it.
4. Ask for the report number.
They keep stealing my McCain-Palin sign.
Vaseline and cayenne pepper.
Vaseline and skunk smell (can find at outdoor stores/farm supply).
i finally bought a pack of bic black ball points today,
and completed my mail-in ballot.
i voted for prop 8.
Sulphuric Acid, concentrated.
My lesbian neighbor stole my other neighbor’s Yes on 8 sign— twice. He convinced her he had her on tape, so she fessed up.
She said the sign promotes hate, and that their son (3 years old) shouldn’t have to see it out it bedroom window.
Apology was accepted.
What about Cayenne powder?
How ‘bout this simple trick. Take a Sharpee pen and write “SMILE FOR THE CAMERA” along the top.
Contribute to the folks running the new radio spot!
It is VERY effective!
Wire it with 220. 110 just gives 'em a jolt.
I got a call from a “pollster” on Saturday and participated in a push poll for the No On 8 campaign.
Usually I hang up when I hear the PAD pause before the agent comes on the line. This lady was quick though. The first thing she said was “Watcha doin’ today?” and I initially thought it was my sister-in-law from Arizona. It turned out to be a middle aged African-American woman with a right to work state accent. She told me that she was conducting a poll for the No On 8 campaign and asked if I would like to participate. I figured why not; at least I could screw up their stats and maybe mess with the “pollster’s” head.
Her first question was NOT about Prop 8. It was “If the election were held today who would you vote for for President”. I answered McCain and having worked on the IT side of call centers for years I could literally hear her staring hard at her smile mirror as she said “Well OK then!” in an enthusiastic and oh so happy voice.
She then launched into her “questions” opposing Prop 8 and I gave her all the wrong answers and editorial opinions on the questions and their purposes. Her general response was “Well I don’t know about that”. The smile mirror was getting a workout. The focus of the No On 8 campaign is that by passing an initiative banning “gay marriage” we are stripping people much like us of their basic rights. I countered that there was no “right” to gay marriage and that what we have in California is just judicial fiat, a law made from the bench. By the end, she didn’t seem to care and just wanted me to shut up.
The interesting part came after the push poll “questions”. She asked questions about how I would be voting on Prop’s 2 and 7. Prop 2 has to do with caging food animals. It that seems narrowly enough worded that I can’t see anything wrong with it - except possibly tougher veal, which for me IS an issue. I suppose it could be used as a “camel’s nose” by the PETA nuts but I can’t see how from the text of the initiative. Prop 7 is an “alternative energy proposal” that would have us buying half of our power from “renewable sources by 2025”. It is so badly written that it is being actively opposed by the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, PG&E, ConEd, the California Chamber of Commerce, the IBEW and the Sierra Club. It ain’t real controversial. The only major support I can find for it are Delores Huerta of the UFW and a guy named Peter Sperling from Arizona who has pumped over 7 million of his own money into it.
The No On 8 campaign seem to be acknowledging that their opposition doesn’t stand on its own merits and are trying to link their initiative to initiative campaigns that have gotten a lot of attention and are virtually certain to be successful (yes on 2, no on 7 respectively).
Sorry for the long winded post. I’ve been reading my California Voter’s “pamphlet” (I’ve lived in towns with smaller phone books) and have perhaps gotten a little wordy.
"Kinky."
Is it legal to bait em?
