The new rumor is that English prof Ayers ghost-wrote Obamas books. There is some early forensic/style evidence pointing strongly in this direction. If this can be nailed down by comparing other Ayers work to Obamas (?) books, Obama is finished.
But the forensic work has to be done super fast to have any effect on the election.
Obama was noted for NOT writing, neither as editor of the Harvard law review, nor as a lecturer on con-law. The man just didn't write, in positions where most folks write like crazy.
Then he pops out with two fantastically well written books that become best sellers? And this has nothing to do with his freindship with political mentor and English prof Bill Ayers?
The forensic work has to be done super fast to have any effect on the election.
I already saw a thread where nearly exact phrases were used in an unpublished but available online Ayers work, and Dreams From My Father. Seems that Ayers had been a merchant seaman for a short while, and the nearly exact same sea and sky descriptions are in both his and "Obama's" works, even though "Obama's" books don't deal with seafaring.
Smoke, meet fire. These sea and sky descriptions jumped out on a first read, but actual forensic analysis could NAIL THIS DOWN. Like a fingerprint or DNA match.
If Ayers is Obama's ghost-writer, we need to prove this in a very short time.
I'm trying to stir up this rapid research here on Free Republic. Remember Dan Rather and Memogate, and the forensic analysis that was done in a matter of hours?
WE need an effort like that now.
I've got one other: I'll run printouts of the Cashill articles and source material past a couple of editors I know from my newspaper days. Their opinions may not be as definitive as word counts and semantic analysis from computerized editorial programs, but their thoughts on the extent to which the suspect material passes the smell test from a seasoned newspaperman should still be worth the effort.
How did this then-nobody GET a book deal, a publisher, and a ghost writer? Not plausible.
The "push" came from elsewhere, from a collaborator (Ayers?) who saw the potential in Obama, ghost-wrote the book, and THEN sold it to a publisher ina very polished form.IMHO.
Note that Times Books of New York was the original publisher of the first 1995 run of DFMF.
If that's the Macmillan subsidiary run by Henry Holt and Company, the *launch date* described at the macmillan.com website places the formation of Times Books after that of the publication of the first print run of DFMF. But it suggests that Obama's fellow travellers at the NYT may have been working with him as far back as 13 to 15 years back.
Ayres publisher, BTW, was Boston-based Beacon Press
Times Books launched in 2001, is the result of an innovative co-publishing agreement between Holt and The New York Times; its list focuses on science, business, and current events.
Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance by Barack Obama; Publication history: New York: Times Books; 1st edition (July 18, 1995); Hardcover: 403 pages; ISBN 0-8129-2343-X
This printing is now very rare. Only a few signed copies are known, and are estimated to be worth up to $5,000 (depending on condition).
I don't think so. Barack was elected President of the Harvard Law Review in 1990, and the first printing of DFMF came out in 1995. [See post above], having spent the 4 previous years in his *community organizer* activities on the Chicago South Side.
Hmmmm, Chicago/1985-90. That rings a bell or two.
It’s all over my head now. I’m concluding that there is nothing provable here, prior to the election.
There is no record of Obama publishing, prior to his first autobiography, even though he was Editor of Harvard Law Review (no published articles in the Review).
He seems to be noticeably inarticulate without a teleprompter..uh..uh..uh.
Yet he writes two extremely literate books, right out of the chute.
Your suspicions are well grounded, but unfortunately, unproveable.
Larry Sinclair is down there now, passing out info to the info outlets. He might get in, who knows, to the meeting, but it looks like its pretty closed access.
I just outlayed $50 on another project http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2093978/posts . So if someone will pay for EVE2 at https://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?item=1877-1 or donate $30.00 to www.palin247.com , thanks.
Whoops, if then. If I can get some volunteers to pay, then I will do the analysis and report back privately to the author of this post and anyone else who asks. Thanks.
Well, we KNOW he did not actually WRITE ANY Harvard law Review articles, but (at best) only edited (one or two) other people’s writings.
At the law firm in Chicago (after Harvard, after his commuity organizing “work”) he reviewed pieces, but did not write any original works - that have come to light.
So, why WAS he sent to sit on the beach in HI for 18 months to write a first “ book by an unknown author” for a very, very large pre-publication price?
That he is a liar of the highest order is pretty evident when his first excuse for the Bill Ayers connection was “Yeah I lived in the same neighborhood”. When you closely scrutinize the excuse he gave for not observing the proper protocol during the national anthem it looks like the exact same ideology as Bill Ayers. Like a page out of one of his books.
Looking for a digital copy (PDF, any reader format) of the Ayers book “Fugitive Days”. we are attempting stylometric analysis of obama memoirs. need ayers’ book. have ordered copy online, but won’t be delivered soon, and we must scan it all. and then proofread for OCR issues. if anyone has access to a copy that we could get immediately, or even better, if you can digitize—well, we’ll work on it immediately. we’ve already got both of obama’s books loaded, and we’re working on some “control” books of similar memoirs.
