Remember this guy and his awesome video?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2091885/posts
Well, I along with some other FReepers invited him to join FR after seeing his YouTube videos. He did, posted something fairly innocuous about the Hadron Collider, and promptly got banned...
Whew!. Thank God I'm illegally insane. It give me an excuse to still be here.
We need to stop using a person joindate as a validity test for their opinions. Period. I cringe everytime I see someone get shot down just because they’re a noob!
I don’t just cringe, I usually let the tenured FReeper know exactly what I think. It’s just nonsense. It is also rude.
Sure, there are the hit and run, clearly troll, noobs, but many who are new bring wonderfully fresh perspetives and information to the forum. Alienating them is foolish.
Had I been called a ‘noob’ and my opinion scorned within the first few weeks/months here, I’d have left and never turned back (whether that’s good for the site or not, is another question).
Nonetheless, I see that Machosauce is back and am delighted.
Is Macho really back?
Frank Burns must be back after all the Teddy Kennedy incidents the day he had the other brain problem.
He was on duty while Jim was off.
I saw a post yesterday that he was back ... all I know... I htink his name was modified ... there was a thread about second chance to make a first impression ?
This place is a great place for news, and I donated a bit to help keep it running. However, if I can’t back up the ‘herd’ view here, I don’t bother to comment. Too many buttheads who are just like the DUers and wish to suppress any thought that isn’t theirs, and unfortunately, some of them are either mods or have a good ‘in’ with a mod.
So, I come here and read the news, then I go somewhere else and discuss it in a place I don’t have to deal with random assholes calling me a troll because I’m not a ‘pure’ enough conservative for them.
Thanks for the site, Jim Robinson. I know you can’t be everywhere to watch everything at once and stuff slips through the cracks sometimes. I’ve moderated a forum elsewhere (game, not political) for the past seven years myself.
Well said.
