The Coming Second Civil War
quesney | quesney

Posted on 09/26/2008 1:08:20 PM PDT by quesney

Folks, A profound schism in American society has been exposed and laid bare over the following years — since 9/11, through the events of Iraq to the monstrously socialist bailout of the present day.

John Edwards was right. There are Two Americas, and it is my fear that they fundamentally incompatible and irreconcilable.

We are headed for a conflict, decades in the making, approaching the intensity, scope and chaos of The Civil War.

I don't know what shape it will take or exactly when it will happen. I only know for certain it is coming and it will be messy. I only know for certain that I have little or nothing in common with "fellow Americans" such as Obama, Pelosi and a good chunk of the liberal "opposition", which I increasingly consider nothing more than a euphemism for people I consider aliens, at best.

The space for civilized debate is fast disappearing, when dealing with an "opposition" repeatedly ready to lie, cheat, distort, steal and compromise our national security, sovereignty and founding principles and repeatedly ready to abandon basic manners, civility, reality and logic, all of which are the fundamental basis for civilized debate. What do you call an "opposition" like that. Is it a threat that can be "deabted" with no longer?

I pray the coming conflict and confrontation is not violent, but it will be no less profound and no less significant than the first Civil War.

The very basic issue to be decided is just what is the United States of America, whether the Constitution no more than a piece of paper signifying nothing but pretense and old memories and whether there are still those prepared to fight for it.

Maybe principled leadership will arise that can prevent it. But I think things are rapidly developing beyond the capacity of any one figure -- however Reagenesque or Churchillian -- to stop what I fear is coming.

“...I know I intend to buy a gun on November 5th -...”

I’m not waiting that long. It doesn’t matter who wins, the conflict is coming. I want a gun or two or three ‘off the books’.

All this crap and insanity from the democrats breaks my heart. Most young people have been brained washed since birth. There is no way to have a rational conversation with Obama supporters. Sad, really sad.

Some of us have been able to see this coming for a very long time.

It was once, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, just a little snowball that not many noticed, or thought much about.

A few of us overly sensitive canaries could spot it, and were laughed at by friends and relatives when we pointed it out, and tried to tell them that it was beginning to roll downhill. They laughed even harder when we worried that it would just gain momentum until it turned into an avalanche that couldn’t be stopped.

Most still refuse to see or hear the “signs of the times”.

I confess that this has crossed my mind in recent months. I am truly frightened by what an Obama presidency coupled with large leftist majorities in both houses of congress will mean. But I also fear, very much, what a violent or even a non-violent coup would bring us. Or they may be no coup at all but that instead secession will raise its head again. Or it may be that the citizenry is so degraded that there will be nothing more than whining and complaining but, at the end of the day, compliance with the new order.

At this point nothing would really surprise me. We live in interesting times and the only thing we can be sure of is that the future is very uncertain.

“Whoever gets the military wins any open conflict”

We’d most likely be fighting NATO/UN troops with their baby blue barets.

It’s vanities such as this that make FR look like a kook-fest.

How long would this vanity post have lasted in the news forum 10 years ago?

I can see something more like a revolutionary war then civil war. The remedy will be the splitting of the US into 3-4 independent countries(composed of states). These units will back out of all US debt obligations and ‘start over’. Almost like the breakup of AT&T many years ago. Each unit will have their own constitution and foreign relations departments.

"I know I intend to buy a gun on November 5th..."

The need for a firearm is something that can't be pencilled into your calender. There's nothing that could befall you on November 6th that couldn't happen to you tomorrow.

A lot of people on both sides WANT there to be a CWII. They’re just waiting for the other side to start it.

<INCENDIARY MODE ON>

I've HAD IT with people like JJ and that jackass from Temple screaming about the need for loan restructuring. The people THEY are talking about are part of the CAUSE of this problem.

I've had it with handout after handout to the black community. NO! NO MORE!

The people they're screaming about are part of the "bad paper" that banks were strong-armed into lending to in the first place. Those people NEVER should have gotten those loans to begin with. If they don't want an education, if they don't want to build job skills, if they can't earn enough to buy a decent house, that's THEIR problem. You make your bed, you lie in it!

So now, those of us who work, who don't live in inner-city blight, who got educations, who MADE SOMETHING OF OURSELVES, have to pay TWICE -- once to bail out the banks, and AGAIN to the people who NEVER SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN LOANS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I've had it! "Give us welfare, we deserve it! Give us education, we deserve it! Give us health insurance, we deserve it! Give us houses, we deserve it!"

NO! Either make something of yourselves, live in your misery, or get the hell out, but no more handouts! WE WILL NOT FEEL SYMPATHY FOR PEOPLE WHO TREAT US LIKE SUCKERS OR GUILTY BECAUSE WE CHOSE NOT TO SUFFER!

Texas! We already have the right to divide into 5 separate states and in military terms, *we’re holding*.

Canada’s a big place. The Leftwingtards who can really swim well will enjoy it in the winter when we drive them over the International Border.

“I too am buying a gun, next week, today was the clincher. I’m going to buy a rifle in case I need to hunt for food (total enconomic collapse) and a pistol in case I need to protect (total societal collapse).”

Rifle is the best idea for both situations. “...a pistol is for fighting your way to the rifle you should have been carrying in the first place.”

Things really weren’t that different 10 years ago. Clinton was in his 6th year, with basically the same list of outrages as we have now (just with names & specifics differing). The same basic CWII rhetoric was underway.

If it wasn’t yanked the poster would have been humiliated into obscurity. Now there will be hundreds of posts supporting such rubbish.

It’s getting hard navigating the idiotic posts just to find the one or two gems each day.
