The Coming Second Civil War
quesney | quesney

Posted on 09/26/2008 1:08:20 PM PDT by quesney

Folks, A profound schism in American society has been exposed and laid bare over the following years — since 9/11, through the events of Iraq to the monstrously socialist bailout of the present day.

John Edwards was right. There are Two Americas, and it is my fear that they fundamentally incompatible and irreconcilable.

We are headed for a conflict, decades in the making, approaching the intensity, scope and chaos of The Civil War.

I don't know what shape it will take or exactly when it will happen. I only know for certain it is coming and it will be messy. I only know for certain that I have little or nothing in common with "fellow Americans" such as Obama, Pelosi and a good chunk of the liberal "opposition", which I increasingly consider nothing more than a euphemism for people I consider aliens, at best.

The space for civilized debate is fast disappearing, when dealing with an "opposition" repeatedly ready to lie, cheat, distort, steal and compromise our national security, sovereignty and founding principles and repeatedly ready to abandon basic manners, civility, reality and logic, all of which are the fundamental basis for civilized debate. What do you call an "opposition" like that. Is it a threat that can be "deabted" with no longer?

I pray the coming conflict and confrontation is not violent, but it will be no less profound and no less significant than the first Civil War.

The very basic issue to be decided is just what is the United States of America, whether the Constitution no more than a piece of paper signifying nothing but pretense and old memories and whether there are still those prepared to fight for it.

Maybe principled leadership will arise that can prevent it. But I think things are rapidly developing beyond the capacity of any one figure -- however Reagenesque or Churchillian -- to stop what I fear is coming.

If they pass this bailout bill I am afraid you just may be correct.

But we do have a civil war of sorts every 4 years.

That’s why you hear the Demoidiots saying they must take back the country.

I have thought about this lately. It would really be the best thing. I know that my husband has invested heavily in precious metals. Not gold or silver, but lead.

Yeah, one America made up of people who work hard, play hard, take risks, and live free, and another America made up of people who live off the fruit of others' labors, never risk a thing, scold the producers when they play and enjoy themselves -- and who, unknowingly, live as slaves.

Incompatible and irreconcilable -- yep.

Good, my side has most of the guns and a ton of military training.

I’ve been preaching this for several years now. I fear that if Obama is elected, and this monstrosity of a bill that pillages the American people passes, it will come to pass sooner rather than later.

I know I intend to buy a gun on November 5th - if Obama wins. I’m going to need it. Because once he starts instituting mandatory youth re-education camps, and his civilian police force, et. al - this coming civil war will begin and it won’t be a cold war.

Russia, China and Venezuela are just waiting for this to happen and it seems like the Socialist Democrat Party are more than willing to see it to through to that sort of outcome.

Hopefully it will be a bloodless coup and our Republic prevails.

The current democRAT regime needs to be run out of town on a rail. PERIOD.

Well....not sure how to accomplish this but....Our Constitution says that the people can get rid of our government if we don’t like them and bring in a new one. So..........have an election and replace Congress.....all of them. Put McCain/Palin in and start over. Walk in the new Congress and walk out the Old Congress. It’s not working the way it is. Change our whole financial system to the benefit of the United States, not to the benefit of outsiders. Also consider our Federal Judges. If they don’t follow the Constitution, get rid of them. I wouldn’t change the Constitution....it’s fine the way it is. Just follow it for a change.

Yep, has been for some time although its coming to a head. As I see it part of the central issue can be described when dealing with outcomes. In order to equalize outcomes it is a nessecity that you supress individual freedom. I know we have all heard that before and its nothing new but it is at the heart of the clash.

I know there is a CWII ping list, but I can’t remember who has it.

This has been talked about on Free Republic for over a year off and on.

Walk in the new Congress and walk out the Old Congress.

Now what makes you think the "Old Congress" will leave without a fight?

Just asking.....

Count me with the group that promotes individual liberty and economic freedom.
As a capitalist small business owner I serve the public everyday!
If you watch the ‘progressives’, you realize that they are poisonous to a society.
They banished the Ten Commandments, the virtues, even the Golden Rule. Even Reason is replaced with moral equivolence and moral relativism. They are like the wind. They are not tethered to any principle.
There’s no way to live with ‘progressives’. That’s why the path they follow always leads to totalitarianism.

I'm not sure who we would be fighting against. As we've seen over the past 8 yrs, there is very little difference between the 2 major parties.

What we must counter are the NGOs that manipulate every aspect of our lives, politically, economically and culturally. Here's a short list: Brookings Institute RAND Corporation American Assembly Foreign Policy Association (co-founded by CFR member Raymond Fosdick) World Affairs Council Business Advisory Council Committee for Economic Development National Foreign Trade Council National Bureau of Economic Research National Association of Manufacturers National Industrial Conference Board Americans for Democratic Action Hudson Institute Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Institute for Defense Analysis World Peace Foundation United Nations Association National Planning Association Center for Inter-American Relations Free Europe Committee Atlantic Council of the U.S. (founded in 1961 by CFR member Christian Herter) Council for Latin America National Committee on U.S.-China Relations African-American Institute Middle East Institute

I am pretty sure a civil war is nearly impossible in the US in the modern age. Something about mechanized warfare... Whoever gets the military wins any open conflict; and the regular military won’t split along state lines like it did in the Civil War. Dunno about the NG units, but I don’t think they’d split off by state either.

You could have insurgency and terrorism, but without a hope of intervention it would be ultimately futile. And who would intervene in the US? China?

Even worse, it might cut cable service - then there would be an uprising!

It’s vanities such as this that make FR look like a kook-fest.

If people think there will be a civil war it’s only because they want it to be so. Get a clue.

You should probably buy that gun now.

You may not be able to on Nov. 5th.

I too am buying a gun, next week, today was the clincher. I’m going to buy a rifle in case I need to hunt for food (total enconomic collapse) and a pistol in case I need to protect (total societal collapse).
