Two weeks ago, the world was convinced the USC Trojans were by far the best team in college football.
Two days ago, the talk was how tough the road would be for the stronger SEC and Big 12 teams to get to the title to face USC.
A few hours ago, everything changed.
Something happened to USC in Corvallis again. The Trojans left Oregon States campus with a quizzical look on each of their faces, in the form of 56 Jacquizz Rodgers, who ran big, totaling 186 yards on the ground against a USC defense that many felt was the most dominant in the country. The result: a shocking Oregon State victory, 27-21 over the top ranked Trojans

I think GA is going to win tomorrow and become #1. That said I probably just put the kiss of death of the Bulldogs so let me apologize in advance to all the Georgia fans..

What am I supposed to do this weekend?Wear red and act like you're too drunk to follow the score.
Alternative possibility - wear red and BE too drunk to follow the score.

Then most college football fans are idiots. But that would explain why they’re college football fans. A vicious cycle, to be sure.

Ask him how he could possibly support a Nick Saban team.
Then go out and rent a movie and wait for Sunday, because that’s when real football comes on.

And then OU will get their ass handed to them again in a bowl game as usual. What conference will do it this year? The Sunbelt?

I find it interesting that the only 2 time BCS champion who is also the undefeated reigning champion only gets mentioned on this thread in the context of their conference and or the top 3-5 teams in that conference.
So I'll say it...the best team I've seen play so far this season was the one who scored the most points in the second half against Auburn last weekend.

At the rate things are going, Ohio State will be back in the BCS Championship Game almost by default.

Seem slogical that the SEC champ should play the Big 12 champ for the title..based on the strength of the two conferences..

I think Ohio State will lose a few more games this year, they got crushed by the very same USC team that Oregon State beat.

I think the Pac 10 and Big 10 are both over rated conferences this year. However, that is based on the assumption (from sports media) that USC was the best from the Pac 10 and Ohio State was the best team from the Big 10. The Buckeyes certainly have not gelled this year - that much was obvious from their first two games - and not unexpectedly got completely clobbered. That said, there's a lot to be said for home field advantage...and for USC (and LSU, especially in night games) it means a whole lot...even moreso later in the year when the climate comes into play.

I don’t know about you, but that’s the way I prefer it. Let the Purple-and-Gold be overlooked by the Gameday talking heads until all the USCs and the OUs have fallen. If the Jarret Lee we saw in the 2nd half of the Auburn game is the one to take over, LSU has a great chance for an SEC championship and then the other game.

They may well, but there's a history with the PAC-10/Big10 games that crossing the country matters...with few PAC10 teams beating upper half Big10 teams when playing in the midwest, even during that tremendous run the PAC-10 had in the 70s and 80s in the bowl games (occassionally facing and beating the very same team they'd lost to earlier in the year).
