Two weeks ago, the world was convinced the USC Trojans were by far the best team in college football.
Two days ago, the talk was how tough the road would be for the stronger SEC and Big 12 teams to get to the title to face USC.
A few hours ago, everything changed.
Something happened to USC in Corvallis again. The Trojans left Oregon States campus with a quizzical look on each of their faces, in the form of 56 Jacquizz Rodgers, who ran big, totaling 186 yards on the ground against a USC defense that many felt was the most dominant in the country. The result: a shocking Oregon State victory, 27-21 over the top ranked Trojans

Go Sooners!
Flame suit on....
Anyone but USC.
If AL Qeda had a team and played USC- I’d root for AL Qeda.
Yeah, I went to public shool in Westwood.
I think most college football fans saw USC as the best team in the country through the first few weeks, so the statement you responded to was not inaccurate.
Is that Okie code for "Mizzou Speedbump"? :-)
Shocking? Not to anyone who watched the game. I could only watch the first half due to my schedule, but Oregon State completely owned the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and USC was lucky to not be down 4 scores at halftime.
Clearly the Trojans made a run in the second half, but they were nowhere near good enough to play like a #1 team should play.
Hang in there, Trojans, and fight on!
Does adding the keyword “collegefootball”, automatically ping the college football distribution list??
Looks like it’s going to be yet another National Championship for the SEC.
USC does this act almost every year....gets whacked by a second tier team. Frustrating for their fans.
Don't look now, but it might come down to the winner of the Florida-Georgia game this year..
Pssh. USC would lose 3 or 4 games per year in the SEC.
They’re just media darlings. But look forward to them debuting 2009 as the “concensus # 1” just the same. It all works out in the end.
I’ll bet USC doesn’t even drop out of the top 6 or 7, even after losing to an unranked team that got drilled by Arizona State by 50+.
Funny really.
Possibly a majority outside the SEC.
We’ll separate grain from chaff on October 11th. Now a really big game.
Big 12’s problem is by December everyone is beat up playing in the hardest conference in football ( SEC a very close second ) then playing again in the championship game before any bowls.
The next Top 10 will probably only consist of teams from the SEC and the Big 12.
Don’t slow down ,the Elephant’s right behind you.
ROLL TIDE
I remember a PTI segment earlier this week where the two panelists were asked to vote between USC, and the whole SEC winning the National Championship. I think it was Wilbon who picked USC.
If Penn State is impressive this weekend they have a shot at the top ten..
Dream on. If OU beats Texas and plays the rest of the season they will stay ranked #1 after New Years and be in the BCS game. They will be #1 after this week after jumping Georgia last week.
