Need math help. If we divied up 700 billion between all us citizens. How much would we all get?

Posted on 09/23/2008 4:48:24 AM PDT by refermech

Why not just give everyone a check and let the public spend our way out of this. Kind of like a mega tax cut. Why bail out the greedy risk takers?

I’m not sure the money really exists in the first place.

$20, more or less.

Then again, I suck at math.

You could just write yourself a check. It’s your money to begin with. I’m out of checks, so can I use one of yours?

I agree, It’s all a sham. But if were going to devalue the dollar I think the gov. should send the taxpayers a wheelbarrow full.

Well, the POPULATION of the U.S. is about 350 Million people, I think.

If 50% of us are TAXPAYERS, then $700 Billion divides up into $4,000.00 per TAXPAYER.

Pretty simple...divide $700B by the number of people.

If we didn’t divide it up, and we have it all to me, I would get 700 billion.

We should start a petition for that plan. I like it.

Let’s see a billion is 1000 millions right? and we have 300 million people. My calculator doesn’t go that far out.. Come on math wizards! I need an answer!

700 billion divided by 300 million is $2333.33

In my house, where we have 9 children, there are 11 of us, and that would come to $25,666.63

I like your idea.
:)

However, if you divided by the number of individual taxpayers (approx 60 million), it becomes $11,666.67

Still not too bad.

It's $2333.33 for every man, woman, and child, based on a population of 300 million.

Why bail out the greedy risk takers?

Just to be clear about something that the media is ignoring, this money is not going to the employees of the investment banks or to the shareholders. It's going to be used to bail out the "customers" of the investment banks, so in effect it's already going to each of us. When we go to get money out of the bank to pay our bills, there will be a building there and a cash machine and tellers, instead of a closed up shell and a sign that says "Vote Democrat."

A little known feature of google is its calculator function. If you simply do a web search and type:

700 billion/300 million

and click on search, it will provide your answer. In this case: 2333.33333

Good point but I was also including all the people that were flipping houses and making mega profits. I hope the goverment gets these properties at bargain basement prices and the can sell them at a profit later. Then again if we enter a period of hyper inflation all bets are off. It will get real ugly.

We are all getting the bill, not a check. And if the $2333.33 for $700 billion grabs you , think about this:

Annual budget is $2.9 trillion or $10,000 per man woman and child.

Assuming that the tax burden is always flat, which it is. (burden not collection). This spending alone is putting millions into poverty and has greatly expanded the perceived gap between rich and poor.
