Gain Detergent Ad Crosses Line?
Right Here | Today | Brainhose

Gain detergent decided that it would launch a "Hip/Funky" ad campaign.
The first commercial featured a couple where the Pregnant mother was addicted to huffing Gain detergent.
It showed a couple coming back from a false alarm at the maternity ward and the husband explaining that ever since his wife was pregnant, she was hooked on smelling detergent.
The actress portraying the preggo was huffing Gain detergent like someone inhaling Model Glue.

This ad was very sickening, and I've only seen it once, thank God.

I really don’t think a water soluable scent, added to a detergent, could possibly harm an unborn child. Really...its ok...the commercial is just trying to show potential buyers how enjoyable their fragrance is. Honest. Switch to decaf for a couple days...things won’t bother you as much.

Maybe you should all do a little light reading.

This commercial was made by a bunch of idiots in my opinion. The fragrances in laundry detergents are cancer causing toxins.

I guess if you like to sniff laundry detergent and pass that on to your unborn child, that’s up to you. It’s like the people I see smoking while they are pregnant too.
RIDICULOUS!!!

Thanks hon for signing up today and making this your first post. Welcome to FR...

I believe everything we touch has a taxpayer funded study linking said item to a carcinogen in some way, shape or form. I'll roll the dice, take my chances...and live with my April freshness...

A year or so ago, some woman in a contest drank enough water to kill her. So I guess water, at high enough dosage, is toxic.

Who would of thought.

I don’t see anything offensive with the ad, and I just had a baby 2 months ago and I did EVERYTHING the Dr’s. told me to to care for my pregnancy....and I always smell scented things before I buy them. During my pregnancy, I switched to Gain after seeing information about it here:

I think we can find other more important subjects to get bent out of shape over.

You can sniff that crap all day long as far as I care, I don't care what YOU do to yourself, I care what people do to the unborn.

We have a problem then, because there's usually a "yourself" attached to that "unborn".

Are you saying that you'd like to see mandates on behavior for pregnant women?

When I was pregnant with my second child I was addicted to the smell of laundry detergent. Every piece of clothing in my house was washed and I was looking for more to wash.
