It's strange, we home can, home brew, garden, shop at a farmers market and drive a Volvo. Am I turning into a hippy? Or does being a cold hearted Bambi killer preclude that?

None of those things (except maybe the Volvo -- I'm not sure *\;-) are anti-conservative. That's just lib propaganda (the nice term for "liberals' lies") trying to make people think that all conservatives are arrogant rich fat-cats who love dirty environments.

But don't get me started... *\;-)

Around here deer are considered varmints with long legs. It may not be sporting to bag the ones who eat our rose gardens but it's tempting. I remember the venison we had (courtesy of hunter FIL, may he RIP) for the wedding rehearsal dinner -- yum!

Ohyah...”bottled carp.”

Where I come from, carp are “trash fish,” but I once had a neighbor who thought they were delicious and bottled as many as her “amorous” hubby could catch.

I forget where she was from, but I nearly fell over laughing when she said the bottled carp was “so delicious.” Actually, it was a toss-up between hilarity and disgust. I managed to tell her between laughs that she could have my share.

My head is still full of memories of a dry summer that left rotting carp in the dry streambeds. (My nose recalls it even better.)

I see nothing wrong with being a cold-hearted bambi killer, home canning, home brewing, gardening, and shopping at a farmer’s market. They all fit into living off the land.

As for driving a Volvo...how solid can you get? Hippies didn’t contribute much outside of illigitimate children by unknown fathers, illegal drugs, and liberal attitudes.

Somehow, I don’t think you fit that profile.

Ratty-looking ruminants. Diseased? Starving? From the aggression they show, I’d say they were starving.

*Shudder*

Maybe I’ll have some breakfast. Maybe. Instant breakfast, no doubt. :o]

How are you and all the Chicklets and the critters?

So vote for McCain/Palin in November and I guarantee you Bush will be gone by January.

Everyone’s fine. Slash is shedding, and Susan is about to. Susan is slowing down because it’s getting cooler - only about 70 in the bedroom. We need to fix up her cage heater.

Pat is doing Greek. Today he learned the verb “to hear” and the noun “temple.” Vlad is writting addition facts, all in reverse :-).

Dang. I got side-tracked, waiting for this to load, so I took the trash out and saw one of the neighbors and visited. She has terminal cancer, and I always visit with her when I see her.

When my brother was studying Greek he and a friend found it helpful to conjugate their verbs by putting them to Gregorian chants. This was also useful in the music class they were in together. Ich nahm Deutschen und kann Verben noch nicht konjugieren.

That would be interesting. Pat doesn’t have any problem with the verb conjugations so far, but the very similar concepts in Spanish are giving Anoreth fits.

It’s always good to visit with one’s neighbors. We have a homeowners’ association meeting tomorrow night. I suppose one of us should go.

Time for me to get ready for Girl Scouts. I hope to run later, after the meeting. My foot feels normal for the first time in almost a month!

Well! You should try the Walmarts we have up in Brewer Maine. The ones in Falmouth and south Portland are right nice too! Of course the only reason they’re stocked up is because everyone is so poor from the taxes that they can’t afford it!

Well, thanks!

Next time I get up that way, I’ll just have to stop in at a Wal-Mart and get some chicken! :o]

Gnawed my teeth down a bit to do it too.
