It was yesterday morning...the Friends did a segment with four panelists and Steve joked and called it the Dating Game or Love Connection. One of the lib men made the same remark and everyone jumped on him. I don’t know who it was as I was in another room.

What I find so amazing is that the elites, who fancy themselves as sophisticated, were snookered into backing a lightweight like Obama. They really are just a bunch of sheep heading for a cliff.

I would have defended that he wouldn't stoop that low. Then I watched the youtube video, it cut off at the phrase about the lipstick and pig. Was he in Lebanon, VA today? Could this have possibly happened before Palin came on the ticket? No, I googled it, and he was scheduled to appear there today.

Bad move there. Sarah was poking fun at herself. There is a huuuuuuuuuuggggggggggeeeeeeeeee difference.

Well, we shall see how it plays out, but regardless of whether it was directly aimed personally at McCain/Palin, or in criticizing a policy, it still was a stupid thing to say now.

I am not sure it was intentional. He is not very good without a teleprompter. This may be like the “My Muslim Faith” issue.

Take away for a moment the comment made by Sarah Palin and it would have been an appropriate opposition argument.

Change Change Change but really more of the same..and then..you can put lipstick on a pig and it is still a pig.

It was a huge mistake to say because people will take it exactly how they are taking it..I am just not sure it was intentional. He may be more like Joe Biden than I thought....open mouth insert foot.

It is a well-known saying. If you say “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear,” you aren’t calling someone a pig either. It is a common expression.

I respect your attempt at justifying his quote as some kind of flippant joke but the fact remains that Sarah Palin introduced the saying to the popular venacular and thus kind of owns it. That is, any reference by Obama's team for the rest of the campaign to the joke will be understood by 99% of the people that heard Sarah say it as a response to Sarah. When you watch the clip you can see that Obama, as has become the pattern, is rambling and searching for some rhetoric, then pauses, seizes on the idea, and then delivers the line. He then tacks on the fish reference and thinks nothing of it although I bet you just moments later he realized what a monumental mistake he had made.

I am coming to believe in the possibility that Sarah Palin threw in that ad libbed line not only because it would probably be the one quote everyone remembers (many of us would have a list to whittle down) but because eventually Obama or Biden would try some kind of slingshot retort using the same joke and it would backfire. Well it slingshot alright and he is toast in so many ways.

The Obama team may have planned this for some later point and would have worded it in an actual clever way but Obama clearly just winged it with the possible thought that any publicity is good publicity. What an imbecile.

Oh absolutely. And as I said in a previous post sarah introduced the joke into the popular venacular so in a way she owns it. For Obama to not even parse a clever play on her joke AND THEN follows with a fish reference is beyond stupid.

I saw the clip on Fox (unlike the youTube version) and it clearly shows he audience reaction - NOT ONE DOUBT in my mind that he was dissing Sarah! watch the Fox version.....it is bad.
