Hi SCB. I believe kassie will be fine. They were downgrading the intensity of the storm's effect on kassie's home area, so I think things will be OK for her as soon as the storm blows through. Try not to worry.

I talked to my neice in Houston - they are going to cousins near Katy - big house - big generator. They cleaned out their refrigerators and freezers and have taken the food to the ranch where the generators will keep it fresh.

I am interested to see what gas prices will be here tomorrow.

By the way....I am typing to you from my new computer. Guy came today and installed it. Grandson Jake will reinstall all my data from the external hard drive tomorrow. So far - so good! I am happy with Dell again :-)

I think it's Friday. I'm knocking off for the evening. I slipped over the fence, borrowed 3 beers, left $3 in the fridge, and am going to watch a movie.

As I climbed back over the fence, I noticed the beginnings of the high altitude moisture that's going to hit us, highlighted against the moon.

It's been a long week. I had to coach my elder sister through setting up her house for the upcoming storm (water, batteries, candles, radio, etc....). There were some "duh" moments. Not her fault, and now she's over-prepared, unless she's not.

I have about 1200 Amp Hours of electricity in batteries that remain charged at all times. It's connected to an inverter that makes 'lektrikity as required automagically for the house, but won't run the AC.

Basically, I have 24 hours of electricity without firing up a generator. When I do have to fire the generator, it runs full out to recharge the batteries, instead of loafing along, running a lightbulb or two.

It's very efficient. But it would be. I be a geek. ;)

Sounds like our motor home. Solar power works great for it when I don’t have electricity. I have a generator, so when we have power outages, it is just an inconvenience, not a life altering situation.
