Irena Sendler much like John Paul II were denied the Nobel Peace Prize.
Both of them will have to settle on having saved thousands of people and the generations that have and will come after, from Fascism and Communism.

Glad she didn’t win. the prize itself is a huge joke. Jimmy Carter and Arafat won. She is reaping a reward a trillion times greater.

Wonderful story. I hadn't heard of this before.
It does make Al Gore look even smaller --- and certainly the Nobel Committee as well.

I absolutely LOVE stories like this, and admire people that would do this for their fellow man. If ever tested, I’d hope I’d rise to the occasion, too!
My hero is Irene Gut Updyke. “In My Hands” is her book. She, too, was a Polish teen during the war and saved dozens of people singlehandedly from death at the hands of the brutal Natzies. And she was only SEVENTEEN years old!

Wow. All I can say is, WOW. And to think Al Gore won instead of her? Shows you what the Nobel Peace Prize folks value, doesn’t it? Shame on them.

WOW what a story. When I hear these things, I take inventory of my life and thank God he has forgiven me. How insignificant my life is, yet He loves me. If He gave me a mission such as this, would I have the faith to attempt it? There is work to do everywhere, but few workers.

Saints still walk among us.
However, Liers Cheats and Scam Artists get all the press coverage.
Thank you Mr. Gore.

the prize itself is a huge joke. Bingo! It has become so politicized, it is a huge joke. If, by some bizzaro accident, I was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I would hide it in the bottom of my closet and kick it to the curb next trash pick up.
To: Diana in Wisconsin; Bommer
There are five Nobel Prizes:
- Physics
- Literature
- Chemistry
- Physiology/Medicine
- Peace
Of the five, the first four are awarded by Swedish scientists.
The fifth is awarded by a board by Norwegian politicians, which explains why it's become such a laughingstock.
To: antceecee
If Algore had any sense of decency or honor he would have refused the award and recommended Irena Sendlerowa.
I remember hearing about this when she died in May. It makes her an angel and Algore more pathetic each and every day.
To: jongaltsr
I LIKE that version better.
