Irena Sendler much like John Paul II were denied the Nobel Peace Prize.

Both of them will have to settle on having saved thousands of people and the generations that have and will come after, from Fascism and Communism.

I absolutely LOVE stories like this, and admire people that would do this for their fellow man. If ever tested, I’d hope I’d rise to the occasion, too!

My hero is Irene Gut Updyke. “In My Hands” is her book. She, too, was a Polish teen during the war and saved dozens of people singlehandedly from death at the hands of the brutal Natzies. And she was only SEVENTEEN years old!
