Just heard reported on FoxNews that the McCain Campaign will be releasing a statement in 1-2 hours saying that the RNC Convention will be changed in a major way. Said something along the lines of a call to action for Americans. Some kind of telethon, fundraising event.
The SA is the ONLY charity I give to regularly. A couple of money orders from the PO (signed ‘Santa Clause’) go into the pots every Christmas. I used to stick $100 bills in, but decided I did not want to tempt the otherwise good people who volunteer.
Remember, locks are only made to keep honest people honest.
The Republican Senators and Representatives need to go back to DC and assemble in their separate chambers. Then they can say we’re here to do the Country’s business, but where’s Nan and Harry?
“they’re a Christian denomination (as in a church). They spread the gospel through their social causes.”
That’s exactly why they get my bucks and other “charities” don’t.
“A couple of money orders from the PO (signed Santa Clause”
Awww.....:)
[sure beats wadded up money thrown on the run]....LOL!
It's then Green and High Tech.
Steal the dems thunder!
Like cash, it is only a way to preserve anonimity.
That’s a fair concern. I’m not sure how to get around it though. Any group you bring in would draw major fire.
Red Cross from the right. Salvation Army from the left.
Let’s send in Pat Robertson’s Operation Blessing and watch heads explode.
When I worked for the Salvation Army I was on a corner in the Bronx. We padlocked our kettles to the lamp posts.
Ha!! They must have read your post on the Hobbit Hole!!
My second cousin, Paul Rader, was the General of the Salvation Army until he retired. (i.e. he lived in London, England during his term and ran the global Salvation Army)
I agree that they do a great job. However, the Red Cross is somewhat politically neutral.
If it were me running the convention, I would raise funds on behalf of the RNC’s “relief fund” and then have the RNC allocate the funds based on the needs that arise. This would probably include a significant share going to the Salvation Army.
We could always get BJ Clintoon and 41 to do commercials. }:^O
...but crooked!
They could participate by doing short videos, thanking the Republican party for its help, that could be shown during the convention!
And full of thieves apparently. The Red Cross will never get another penny of charity from me. S.A. all the way.
Note, in #133 I am talking about the American Red Cross. I’ve had no dealings with the International Red Cross so I’m not referring to them.
Nah, they'd just be in the way of the work that needs to be done. But they could put out a statement saying that, as soon as they know they won't be hampering rescue and recovery efforts, they'll be there.
This should be a showcase for how a Republican Administration interacts with a real Governor (Jindal). It should be done in a way to highlight without saying it how awful Governor Blanco was. There should be lots of four-way media with Bush, Jindal, McCain/Palin, and the empty halls of Congress.
There are already good examples - the National Guard is on the streets, Chertoff is down there, an orderly evacuation is proceeding, and law&order is being maintained.
This is as good an idea as Rush had when he auctioned off the letter from Dingy Harry and gave the money to charity.
