I just wanted to say congratulations to all the ladies of FR. A Conservative woman will be the next VP of the United States of America, it took quite a while but its going to happen. You've come a long way baby!

A mom with that many kids could easily run a country...lol

And do so better than many a "professional" could even dream of...

Hubby says she looks more like a young Raquel Welch!

Now that you mention it....she does!

Outstanding! Just outstanding. She’s had the courage to speak up for drilling for offshore oil from the beginning, before oil price spikes kicked sense into 80% of Americans.

She’s pro-life and pro-gun-rights, too.

...and she cleaned up Alaska’s corruption with an ethics reform law (plus enforcement campaign) that D.C. could surely use.

I have eight children, but there are several FReeper moms with more, any one of whom could easily handle the Vice Presidency if she chose.

If Biden and Palin were shipwrecked he’d be TOTALLY dependent on her, NOT the other way around!

But he’s the kind of creep that would rush to the cameras when they were found to explain what a hero HE is!

Thanks, Snurple!

I am totally thrilled with this choice! I am so excited now, when before I was just riled against Obama. It is so good to be energized and FOR someone!

My only regret is that classy lady is not on the TOP of the ticket! I crawl on broken glass to pull the lever for her!

What a great thread to find!

I'm another one who surprisingly found herself crying today. I thought about all the campaigns I have worked on (since 1971 when I was a Teenage Republican), and all the fabulous women I have known as campaign volunteers, managers, fundraisers, party chairwomen, precinct captains, and wives of candidates. This for all of us who have been the backbone of this party for decades, but never got to sit at the head table.

I know conservatives do not practice identity politics, but I don't see how any conservative woman could not feel a special sense of pride and satisfaction today.

For the first time in my life I’m proud of my party.

LOL. Sorry, but someone had to say it a la Michelle.

Truthfully, for the first time I am enthusiastic about the election.

See my #24; I’m behind the curve.

Now I have another point with which to noodz my FReepless spouse: “Sarah Palin has a 4-month-old, and she’s older than I am. And see what *she* looks like!”

Being a conservative woman I am very proud of soon V.P. Palin (try it on for size). However, I have to say, had there been a man being considered for the job with the same qualifications and who had the same conservative record I would still be ecstatic about McCain’s choice. That being said, Conservatism won today, and that my FRiends is what really counts.

As a woman myself, I couldn't care less if a woman ever got nominated or elected. I don't care one way or the other. Why should it matter? I care that the person has integrity, brains, conservative values, is competent, and doesn't believe the Constitution is a "Living Document". How does a woman veep or president improve my life? It doesn't. The right person, however, does improve my life.

As a whole, I think men are generally more suited for the job of president, the pool of qualified women is probably much smaller. In the case of Sarah Palin, I believe she falls squarely in the qualified camp. Out of the veep candidates under consideration, I think Sarah Palin and Romney were the best of the lot.
