170 or 180 come on! Those are huge numbers.
OMG...
Thanks for the kind words!
For that you have to have a storm in the 26 baro level, very rare.
I know you are relieved! Let us know when they reach their destination, and how their trip went.
Let’s hope they rebuilt with concrete on every floor!
Awwww come on!Don’t do that!
Wow, I still say you are the best and many of us appreciate the hours you put in here.
I may get some bucks soon, if I do I will buy your program.
IR convection on the south and SW side, next to be drawn into the core, looks robust, further strengthening likely.
Slight recurve to the east visible on the 8/30/2100 projected track. Projected +24 to +36 bearing puts New Orleans closest point of approach at 75.0 miles, mid to late afternoon Monday, but recurve tendancy will lower that figure.
Max surge depends on shoreline geometry but usually happens from 12 o-clock, out to three eyewall diameters. Eye and rimwall position at NOLA CPA will enhance surge at the city, but max surge looks to be south and west of NOLA for now.
NOLA’s looking at a “near miss” right now.
Initial data plotted, more as trends develop.
-48 is a little early for me, but Gustav has potential.
Good GRIEF- I just heard the stellar mayor of NOLA say “I strongly encourage you to evacuate” in an utterly laid back tone of voice..
What is WRONG with him?
I read up thread somone saying something about a high building to the west that might push the track to the east. Any truth to this?

Drugs?
No thanks. I'm having beer.
I’ll second the “drugs” opinion.
Ray-Ray was up to SOMETHING for three days at the Hyatt after Katrina, and it damn sure wasn’t emergency management with only one phone line.
Remember the days of Quaalude? That’s how he behaved.
Can we all take a minute to pray for whoever and where ever this Hurricane hits! and McCain will be wise about whatever he decides......COUNTRY FIRST
God Bless them...
They had only made it 125 miles north in Mississippi when they called a couple hours ago. They are headed to a shelter in Chattanooga, TN that Americorps arranged for. I don’t care where they go as long as it’s north....lol!
They just moved to NO a month ago and if this is really bad I would imagine they’d move back to Richmond, Va.
VirginiaMom
top of the hour abc news, gustav is whuppin up on western cuba..
It’s all revved up and nowhere to go but back to the future for NOLA or so it seems.
Prayers to those in its path and those left behind to bury their dead and cleanup the islands.
