Dems go home! I work in downtown Denver and no one that lives or works here is happy that the DNC is being held in Denver.
Why wouldn't we want to see this historic moment you ask??... Let me give you an idea of what life is expected to be like here the 25th through the 28th.
1. Security. There is an air of fear here. No one wants to be in the office. Our building security has bought bedding, cots, etc.. in case the police lock the area down and we all get stuck here.
Memo's have been flying for weeks now telling us to remember to bring food, water, extra clothing, and bedding. If some freak does something, trying to get his name on TV...well...I won't be able to go home.
Security is locking the building down so the public will not be able to enter. Nah...I'm not nervous. /sarcasm
2.Traffic. Denver's traffic is already packed to the gills and these bozos are going to turn it into a psycho circus. -I'm buying a bus pass today...sigh
3.Locals are pushed out. We've already been told not to try to leave the building for lunch. The dems will be flooding into every place that sells food all over the downtown area.... So bring your own or do with out.
I plan on taking a camera with me...if anything of interest happens, I'll post them on FP.
We won't see them if you post them there.
Suggest a video camera.. so! borrow one.. The Lemmings are on the march..
You have my sympathy.
Good you don’t work in one of those restaurants....since Dems are not big tippers. In fact, Hill/Bill are notorious for leaving NO TIP or for just skipping out and not paying the bill at all.
I really don’t think there is going to be a lot of trouble from the demonstrators. They will save that for the Repub convention.
Why demonstrate against one of their own????
All the fun starts tomorrow. Ward Churchill, Cindy Sheehan, Black Panthers, World Workers Party, all at Re-create 68, marching on the Pepsi Center. (I’ll be there taking pictures.....)
Come on down to the American Victory Coalition rally starting at 10:00 Colfax and Broadway. Busloads of troops families are coming up from Fort Carson. Right across the street from all the wacko’s.
Here is some of what the wacko’s have in store for Denver:
6:00 Tuesday night, Veterans Against the War will be holding fake war games throught the streets of downtown Denver, complete with volunteer victims posing as Iraqis.
6:00 Wednesday night, Bicycles parade through downtown Denver, falling over and playing dead in major intersections to cause gridlock.
Thursday, Code Pink and all the wacko’s march on Invesco Field.
This should be an action packed week all right.......
Poor you
:(
/sarc.
Time to head for the foothills!
Today (Sunday) at noon, at the State Capitol, there will be a mass gathering about “non-technical blockades” and “self-defense for protesters.” I can see that area from my office right now and will post if anything funky happens.
I have famiy in DPD. They are preparing for protestors to attack the police and act as if the police are harming the protestors so the protestors can then claim police brutality. It’s disgusting. I don’t understand why we allow/authorize violent groups to protest.
“The dems will be flooding into every place that sells food all over the downtown area.... “
Nah, that’s just rumor. The Obamessiah is going to do the loaves and fishes thing as proof that He is The One. Course it will be organic, pesticide-free, fat-free, calorie-free, non-rain forest stuff so I would avoid McDonald’s and Burger King if I were you.
It's Sunday already?
I'll be scanning the skys to the east of me all week for smoke or tear gas clouds.
>>Dems go home!
In 2004 the owner of a pizzeria near the Fleet Ctr in Boston
was so angry at the loss of business that he posted a huge sign: DNC—Thanks for Nothing GO BUSH
He was cited for an illegal sign.

“The state Republican Party is sympathetic to Pasquale, who thought he would make money slinging slices during the convention, but decided to close when he found out the delegates would be fed at private parties.
“’I feel bad for the guy,’ said Tim O’Brien, executive director of the Massachusetts GOP. ‘He’s been run out, forced to close down for a week, and now they’re citing him.’”
I work too hard. I really meant Saturday!
Anarchists, communists, fascists, criminals and other nasty Obama people will be out in full force to try to counter Hillary's people.
What I find disgusting is that they are considering throwing human waste products at the police and each other.
It reminds me of my life during the Noriega era. I never knew if I was going to make it home that night. I always carried an overnight bag in my car.
May offer you a few tips:
1. If you have pets, make sure you make arrangements with a neighbor or friends nearby to feed and clean them. Dont forget to give them a key. Leave lots of food available for your pets.
2. Dont forget to pack your usual hygiene stuff (deodorants, toothbrush, Kleenex, hand wipes, etc). Are there places you can shower? You will need towels, soaps, shampoos, etc.
Dont forget a pair of nail clippers. There is nothing worse than running around with a hangnail.
3. I dont know if these are available in the U.S I find them at the pharmacies here in Panama disposable underwear. They have them for men and women. They are the greatest thing ever invented. These are the greatest thing for traveling. I always have a package on reserve. They are very inexpensive. I find them more comfortable than regular underwear.
Oh wait, I see you do have them in the States. Go here:

4. Try to dress down a much as the office will allow you. That would mean less bulky clothes, shoes, and will be easier to keep clean.
5. And better still, if you can, take those days off and stay home. I know, easier said than done.
Best of luck to you.
Repeat after me: it's an honor for Colorado and Denver to be in the international spotlight.
Did that work? Not so much? Sorry.
On a hopefully more helpful note: Would it help to take the light rail to work? The whole thing is going to snarl traffic terribly. They have already announced that they are going to shut down the interstate near Mile High during the acceptance speech, which is near one of the major downtown exits. I'd bring lunch, too. I know the downtown area has lots of big conventions, but this one is huge, plus all the media people.
We've made plans to avoid being anywhere near Denver until this entire debacle shuts down, has packed up, and has scurried out of town. Good luck - it won't be for too long.
Because even they don't want to eat the organic vegan slop the DNC is providing.
> ... no one that lives or works here is happy that
> the DNC is being held in Denver.
Wait until HRC starts her coup move.
The city may burn to the ground.
So now, who is HRC’s VP pick?
Here’s an idea why not have them all in Washington,D.C., that’s there they all want to be anyway.
That way all the elected theives and their slimey underlings will togeather.
