Here are the Senators who voted against the Cornyn amendment , which would have established a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals looking to snag a shamnesty visa. Republicans underlined:

Never forget McCain not only pushed the amnesty bill, he refused to allow exclusions for the worst of the lot. And he unloaded his infamous temper on his mild-mannered senate colleague for having the audacity to introduce this amendment.

Those who want secure borders are denounced as xenophobic nativists and told we can't deport 30 million people. The reality is that McCain, Obama and the open borders crowd are the extremists who don't want to deport anybody. This vote proved it.

Seriously, the only thing I could definitely discern from that paragraph was an increasingly familiar contempt for 'genuine conservatives'. A popular sentiment in the Grand Ol' Party these days.

BTW how were you involved in the 187 fiasco?

When I saw him say that I almost puked. He just doesn’t “get it” that America belongs to Americans, NOT to Mexico/Mexicans. Not yet, anyway! Not until they sign amnesty and then they will have handed over the US to Mexico. HOW can they be sooo darn stupid??? We are screwed as a nation in 08, no matter which one of the traitors wins, short of a revolution, and then the dummies might get the message!! And these fools wonder why their approval rate is @ 9%.

The Memoirs of the Conquistador Bernal Diaz Del Castillo present the inspiring vision of Spanish multiculturalism, political correctness, tolerance.

Why are we even messing with this democracy thing anyway? It's crazy talk!

If we could just get back to that golden era when with a royal edict, four hundred dudes, a few horses, a few cannon, and the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of savages, we could plant the cross.

The senator is a few ball bearings short of a race.

...McCain has embraced foreign-language maintenance as the real goal, buying into the “we didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us” justification for Hispanic group rights. This is what he means with his frequent references to the historical primacy of Spanish in Arizona. McCain’s ideological multiculturalism is also apparent from his longstanding opposition to official status for the English language ... “I have fought against English-only ballot initiatives.” He started at least as far back as 1988...

Great stuff, Kabar. I didn't know about those positions before (although none surprise me.)

Apache and Comanche languages were spoken in Arizona before Spanish. The Spanish tried but failed to steal Arizona from these tribes.

The Pope divided up the New world between the Portuguese and Spanish. This allowed the Spanish/Mexico to claim Arizona and a few other states but never they settled them or controlled them

English was spoken on the moon first. Does that mean we own the moon?

I have lived in AZ for well over a decade. I have never met ONE person in this state - ever - who supported this poor excuse for a Presidential candidate. I don’t have a clue how he got where he is today - it sure isn’t because he is representative of the Republican Party.

I am a conservative, and if you discerned that I have "contempt" for "genuine conservatives"; I don't.

I don't quite understand, however, how "genuine conservatives" uphold Ronald Reagan in nearly all things; save for his on the 11th: "Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican."

But I eventually figured it out: Ronald Reagan used the word "Republican", and therein "genuine conservatives" created their caveat.

I've often wondered if being a "genuine conservative" is along the same lines of thinking as those who talk about who's a real black and who isn't.

Sounds like a word trap, to me. Meaning, capturing an institution or concept by defining it to be identical with your belief set and thus excluding your ideologic opponents who then are put into the position of having to argue that they should be "allowed" back in.

I've no problems understanding this as a strategy, a principled one, yes. But then there's that thing about actually winning office. Which is tremendously important to the direction and current and future of this country. I'm definitely of the Rumsfeld philosophy - "We go with the Army we've got". And if "service members" aren't as perfectly "principled" as conservatives, I don't see the point in vilifying 'em, publically.

Michael Medved's, today: "Not a Dime's Worth of Difference?" parses the matter far better than I can.

All the John McCain Loyalist remind me of Battered wives.

He beats them up on Thursdays and Saturdays and their mantra is “Oh he is not so bad” My other husband use to beat me up 5 days a week” I have it pretty good now!!

When I tell others that I am voting for Chuck Baldwin because I believe the Constitution and it’s principles are the most important. I am told I am throwing away my vote.

THIS ARTICLE is MORE proof I am not throwing away my vote.

JOHN MC CAIN THREW AWAY MY VOTE!!

And now I am picking it up and voting Constitution Party.

Did we need anymore proof?

He's a Leftist Liberal who believes that the United States is an illegitimate creation.

Only the Conquistador nations are legitimate. Or the aboriginal tribes like the Yaqui, Apache, Pima etc.

Just not the Evil United States, and its White Anglo-Saxon Protestant founders.

It's funny to hear McDimWit say things like this. Having been born and raised in Arizona long before he arrived, he wouldn't remember the real state as it was prior 1980: overwhelmingly WASP. And it had always been that way; the majority original settlers weren't Mexican or even Spaniard...they were Mormons. The Mexican settlements in Tucson and Tubac were tiny, and the Mexican rancheros hardly existed north of present day Nogales.

But he wouldn't know that. He arrived in Arizona in the early 80's when illegal immigration from Mexico really got going, so he thinks that's the way the place looked. The truth is, I didn't see a word in Spanish on a billboard until 1976...before that, it was all English.

Arizona was settled by the Americans. The Mexicans didn't want it because they couldn't make anything of it. Now that somebody else did, they want to steal it....which has always been the only way the Spaniard "societies" worked.

The result of that is plain to see...Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

This is what we will become under either McCain or Obama, and the World will be the worse for it.

I admired Ronald Reagan, considered him a good president. This does not mean I did - or have to - agree with him on every issue. I do not even agree with my mother or my number one choice for POTUS on every issue. Absurd to expect to agree totally with somebody before voting for him.

In McCain's case, the overall package is too flawed to qualify him for POTUS, and I find nothing positive. He shows possible signs of senility and being medicated. His amnesty stand and vote against the Cronyn amendment indicate he is willing to sell out this country. Just look at his record and his statements.
