Looking for Obama Information

Posted on 07/03/2008 11:18:23 AM PDT by 7thson

My wife mentioned the other day she heard some Obama supporter state that since the military is so thin that a President Obama will have to bring back the draft. Did anyone else hear this? Can anyone supply a link to either a transcript or video of this? Thank you for your help.

I don’t have a link, but the left has been bringing up the draft canard for about three years now. I think it started with Charlie Rangel.

That doofus, Rangel, introduced legislation to bring back the draft for the sole reason of playing the “race card” because not enough rich, white kids were being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. *Rolleyes*

THEN, when it went to a vote HE VOTED AGAINST IT. (It was soundly defeated, obviously.)

Dems bring this out every four years just to do fear mongering.

Its a rumor based on the fact that Charles Rangel, another African-American politician and Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee has used reinstitution of the draft as a political threat to gain more support to try to end the war in Iraq.
Only Congress can reinstitute the draft.
Obama has taken no official position advocating for a reinstitution of the draft.

It says so much about the Democrats that they actually initiate legislation that they want to see defeated.

Their focus is clearly on achieving political power. They have no interest in actually governing.

I hope you find it cause.... back in 06, Obama was against the draft, saying: "a volunteer military is adequate when the country has a national security strategy that makes sense"

weasle words.

Obama will say anything to get elected. Don’t fall for it.

Perhaps this is what she heard...

Brian Sussman on KSFO the other day stated as a warning to all of the starry eyed youths supporting Obama, that our all voluntary force would have little motivation to remain in service under a military hating administration, and that an Obama win would likely reduce our military force to such low levels that Obama would be forced to re-institute the draft as an unintended consequence.

It was on one of the national talk shows, but I can’t remember which one, and it was a substitute host, so it was probably on the Sean Hannity show. The host was speculating on what would happen if Obama became POTUS, and how he would so demoralize the military that there wouldn’t be enough volunteers, so he would have to reinstitute the draft. There may have been someone else saying it as well, but that is where I heard it.

Yesterday on the Sean Hannity Show, the guest host, whose name escapes me, ran through a scenario where a Barack Obama presidency would eventually end up with the need to implement the draft. Here’s how he put it. I’m paraphrasing.

If Obama is elected and pulls out the troops from Iraq, giving our military a huge defeat, and demoralizing them. There will be a mass exodus from our all voluntary military. The likes not seen since Vietnam. This will deplete the numbers so badly that as a result of Obama leaving Iraq to Iran and the terrorists, we are pulled into another conflict in the Middle East and having to go back in. And because the all volunteer Armed Forces can not meet it’s recruitment numbers. The only other solution will be to re-institute the draft.

The guest host’s point was to address all the college age adults out there pushing for Obama with the hopes of ending the war in Iraq, be cautious about what you are doing. The results of which may be just the opposite of your intentions.

Make sense?

No matter what the party, that would be political suicide.

But we really could just get rid of the military because the war on terror is just propoganda for oil and once we get rid of oil we can sit around and smoke hemp in our commune in everlasting peace after we apologize to all the countries we have invaded for their oil.

Whew! Was that bleeding heart enough?
