While watching CSpan yesterday they were debating a bill to pour more dollars into mass transit. I got to wondering how the majority of CongressCritters and their staff get to work. Do you think they utilize DC's mass transit system?
I have been told that Rush (Holt, my congresscritter) does indeed take the DC Metro to the capitol. While back in his district, however, he is shuttle around in an SUV (very green of you, Rush), although his staffers have been talking about scrapping it.
My Representatives are from Texas and they don't preach that nonsense. I hope they all drive Hummers.
I’ll bet a lot of the congress commies ride in a bullet-proof limo that gets 5 mpg. I’ll bet their walled enclaves use more energy than the homes of typical little people. But, they’re special, don’t you know?
I;ve come close on my better (?) days.
I've never seen him without a cigarette in hand so I'm guessing mass transit is out. Although if a drinking/smoking car is involved, he'd be all for it I'm sure.
Actually, I’m still WAITING for my Congresscritters to get to work. So far, they’re all fiddling while America burns. If we don’t stop them NOW, ESPECIALLY with their inaction over domestic drilling and production of oil; over refusing the fix the mortgage crisis which THEIR legislation precipitated; with their refusal to act on illegal immigration, we will find ourselves as the new peon class waking up in our haciendas in MexiAmnada and wondering (too late, as usual) how we got here.
By broom!
I’m from New York. I’d prefer that my Congressperson NEVER gets to work.
I believe that he rides on the back of Huma Abedin’s broomstick.
Well, according to Rush, Governor Schwarzenegger gets from home in LA to Sandiego via private jet...not that he has an oil addiction or anything....
Union Station is a couple of blocks from the Senate office buildings, although it takes a while just to get out of Union Station and onto the street.
Capitol South is a bit closer to some of the House office buildings, but not all of them.
I hope they walk. We, taxpayers, pay for the Congresscritters' cars and their gas and their aides' cars, &c. I wouldn't look for them to have to declare this perq as income either.

My Representatives work for me and do a good job. I hope they drive Hummers.
Man, are you deluded!

Once they get there, there is a fleet of limosines to pick them up and take them wherever they need to go, say, over to CNN studios, on “official” business. For security and safety’s sake, ya know. And the networks will send a limo over to pick them up if there isn’t a fleet limo available. In the Senate, nearly all have drivers on their office payroll.
I'll say it one more time. My Representatives do a good job for me. I'm in Texas. Perhaps you are not so fortunate!
Kongressmen work? Who knew? I thought they just spent other peoples' money and got paid for it.

some animals are more equal than others.”
I’ve been wondering about this too. Perhaps it’s time to start following these people around with a camera.
