If a snubnose .38 or .357 is good enough for our cities finest, you can bet one is good enough for me.

While they’re a bit big as “snubbies” go, Taurus even makes some that will interchangeably fire a .45 Colt cartridge or a 2.5 inch .410 shotgun shell - they call this one The Judge!

Unavailable in California.

Dammit.

I can see a couple serious advantages that revolvers have over autos. First, if for some reason it fails to fire, you can just pull the trigger a second time. Second, a revolving cylinder is much less likely to jam. That said, I carry a Glock.

Even crazy Son of Sam knew that .44 makes a bigger hole than a .36.

Yes, it is a .36 diameter bullet, in a .38 inch diameter case. The .44 shoots a .43 diameter bullet from a .44 inch diameter case. The .41 is an honest .41 inch diameter, the .45 Auto (or Auto Rim if you, like me, have a .45 Auto revolver and are tired of moon clips) is an honest .455, whle the .45 Colt is an honest .452 inch diameter.

Moon clips hold 6 rounds of .455 diameter hollow point goodness, and are faster than speed loaders. Special holders are used to keep the clip from bending in your pocket. If the bullets miss, the muzzle flash will likely set the goblin on fire. If resistance continues, the revolver makes a very efficient war hammer.

I’m 5’5 at 110lbs ... I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32cal with Glaser Safeties in one magazine and the other has Hydra-shocks. I’m not to be messed with. I read where the average gun fight range was 8 to 12 feet (California Highway Patrol research) - at that range it doesn’t matter if you have 357 magnums or what I carry ... at least mine won’t go down the block and take out an innocent .....

I’d rather carry a subcompact auto, a .40 or a 9mm. Of course this would be for conceal carry. My main preference in a pistol is a .45 auto. I love my HK USP Tactical.

My two favorite handguns are my new Taurus 1911 with Laser grips and my older Taurus Model 617 Total Titanium snubbie in .357.

I like them both but I am more comfortable with and have greater confidence in the .357 revolver. It's better for concealed carry at 19.5 ozs. and holds seven rounds. The barrel is ported so recoil is minimized, even with .357 vice .38Spec,I can hardly tell the difference.

I'm an "old fart" at 69 years old,so my eyesight isn't what it used to be,but with this gun I can confidently shoot three inch groups at 25 yards.

The 1911 is fun too,but I think I just have more trust in my abilities with the wheelgun.

I work at a gun range part-time. I teach people to shoot pistols, rifles, and the occasional machine gun. I have never ceased to be amazed at the number of people that take the Texas concealed handgun course with almost no idea of which end of the gun the bullet comes out of. A large number of people show up with guns they have never fired, and on occasion they have never fired a gun before. The worst are actually the handgun renewals. Many of them haven't fired a gun since they got the initial license several years before.

In my humble opinion, whatever handgun you carry will work, as long as you have shot it a lot. You have to know how to use the firearm without thinking. Literally.

I started out as a medic and later an OR technician. I think I've seen people killed with ever caliber you can think of, except maybe a .22 short. Because of that I don't care that much what caliber I'm carrying. I normally carry a .380 auto that is basically a 1911 clone. I've been shooting a 1911 of one sort or another all of my adult life. I have no deep philosophical attachment to the .380, but I can use a 1911 in my sleep, so why change the habits of a lifetime now?

My dad hated his snubbie. He said you would have a better chance at hitting the target if you threw the gun at him versus trying to shoot him with it. It was great inside of ten feet.
