WGN ran those shows of WKRP, Welcome Back Kotter, etc. last week. Saw a bit of Barney Miller. I forgot how much fun that show was to watch.

We are finally finished with school. Yippie!

Our whole family is heading to Mackinac Island tomorrow. We will be there through Sunday. (Lilac Festival) We are so ready for this trip.

We are dry in the central part of the state. We received about 2 inches of rain over the weekend. The southern third got pounded pretty good.

More than 7 inches in some areas.

Don’t bend over. That made me very uncomfortable after my surgery.

Since I posted here this AM, I have bagged all the trash and put it on the street, emptied all the wastebaskets in the house and put that in the bin, grabbed up all the already pulled weeds and put those on the street and gathered all the aluminum cans, located the recycle bin, put the two together and put that on the street. The garbage people collect today sometime between 0600 and 1200. I can’t put trash on the street the night before because people come around, open trash bags and go through the trash and LEAVE IT STREWN ALL OVER. THE GARBAGE PEOPLE DON’T CLEAN THAT UP AND YOU’RE LEFT WITH IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK.

And I’ve dryed and folded some laundry.

Watering has commenced and will end about 0930.

I am through with that sort of work until late this afternoon. I’m now turning my attention to crafty, low-energy type of activities.

I’m still avoiding the media.

One bit of news that I have caught: President Bush called on congress to allow drilling in ANWR. Chuch Norris is also called for Congress, [to] Get Off Your Gas and Drill. Perhaps now would be a good time to flood the congressional phones with our personal calls for drilling.

Toby, I think I'm going to follow your lead and make stickers and put them on gas pumps.

Mr. Prairie remarking this morning that the rivers in your area are predicted to crest higher than they did in 1993. I remember that as I did some traveling through IA for family reunion then and there was some concern about getting there.
