To: Iowa Granny

Mr. Prairie remarking this morning that the rivers in your area are predicted to crest higher than they did in 1993. I remember that as I did some traveling through IA for family reunion then and there was some concern about getting there.

Yes, Iowa City (Coralville Resevoir and the Iowa River) is under seige this morning. They are saying the Iowa will crest as much as 3 ft above the record levels of 93.

My district is directly downstream. We expect major problems by tonite.

Tell Mr pb they are going to close about 250 miles of the Mississippi, due to high water,and that a runaway barge hit the Julian Dubuque bridge last night.

‘93 was the year of all that horrific flooding along the Mississippi, wasn’t it?

I really hope that it doesn’t get that bad.
