Check your cookies and your cache. Clean those out. Delete everything but cookies from Free Republic. I bet that is how they track whether you’ve voted before or not.

Try holding down ESC when booting and see if you can get into the CMOS setup.

Well, you and I are in the same boat. My computer bit the dust this morning. I've been getting a can't write to C for the past few days. This morning I got it in the safe mode, but it kept scandsking stating that there was an improper shutdown(which ther wasn't) and then it would freeze.

Done. This time the screen stayed black, but the blue lights remained on. The machine stayed on.

So this brings us back to my question from last night concerning enclosure kits. My long-term plan is to take it all back with me to Papua and then see if that same shop can do anything with it. If not, I’ll buy a new one over there.

That may be the best way to go. I'm going to have to do the same thing for my sister's old laptop to get the data off of the HD.
