We used to buy canned uncooked bacon for the fishing boat in Alaska - then used the empty can to pour the grease into. Then used the grease to fry salmon and halibut - hmmmmm - good.

Back in the 1970s, the field ration packs used by the Canadian military included canned bacon.

There was a restaurant in KC that's been out of business for a long time, but they had a sandwich on their menu called "The Heart Attack Special." It was a BLT, and they used a full pound (uncooked weight) of bacon on each sandwich!
