FRANKLIN, Massachusetts (AP) -- Diana Bardsley wiped tears from her eyes as she recalled taking food off her plate to feed her beloved spaniel Hunter and two Siamese cats.

She ought to consider eating her pets.
Oh for cryin’ out loud! What will they think of next?
If it weren’t such a load of crap, it’d be hilarious.
She is on food stamps.
Ok, so the public is paying for her food and she has two cats and a dog to support.
I have a problem with this.
I know this is snarcy but she is a chunky woman who could afford to eat better and lose a few pounds.
The tax payers should not be supporting her AND her animals.
Some woman is on the dole and she has THREE PETS and now I am suppose to feel sorry for her because she has trouble feeding them. Sorry but no sympathy here. How about a food stamp program for pets for people such as this woman!!!
My kids are clamoring for a dog. Besides the fact I would get stuck walking it I ran the calculations and concluded the cost of feeding it, trips to the vet, etc it would not be worth it.
I wonder what my dogs are worth per lb?
everything’s better when it sits on a Ritz
$1 prepared.
It would be interesting if CNN reviewed the receipts from her last three months purchases...
maybe this is what “ change “ is all about !!
>>”People look at me, they are, like, you know: ‘The cat is 16 or 17, come on, get over with it,”’ Kazijian said, sitting in her bed and stroking a cat. “And I say, ‘To me that’s almost like a child.’ ... You’ve got to be a pet owner to appreciate how much they give back to you.” <<
I had a cat that was my bestest friend for 19 years. Now we have Minnie the Maniac Papillon and our newest addition, Baron the Computer kitty sleeping with his chin on the screen as I type.
But geez, what an insult to this lady’s children to compare her pets to them.
OH THE HUMANITY!!!
4 cans of 9 lives for a buck is just too much!!
USA Today ran a piece about an elderly couple that had committed suicide because they lost their house. It turns out they had mortgaged it to the hilt beginning in 1988 when one of them inherited it, and then when the lifestyle resulted in potential loss of the property, they attempted to file bankruptcy three times in four years! They needed psychiatric help, not some news-whore blaming the economy for their woes!
This is the same crap. In my city, we have a non-profit, inner-city spay-neuter clinic that receives humongous donations of pet foods from the big makers to allow their distribution to needy owners at no charge.
Sheesh.
You can still get the store brands for about 16 cents. The other senior citizens and I shop for those in the early morning so no one will know that aging veterans are forced to live on cat food.
Reminds me of an old Good times episode.
A can of Fancy Feast is $0.47.
Trader Joe’s Tuna for Cats is $0.33.
If you can’t scrape up $5 a week to feed your cat, maybe getting pets weren’t the best decision you’ve ever made.
d’oh! weren’t= wasn’t
