My Favorite: BUN E. CARLOS OF CHEAP TRICK!
I LOVE YA, BUN!!!
Yes!
You are very, very close.
Yes, I will second both Dave Garibaldi and Bill Bruford.
TRUE “U2” STORY:
I went to Larry Mullen Jr.’s childhood house outside Dublin, Ireland in 1993 (January 8th, I think). I was engaged to a Dubliner, and we were on a “U2 Tour” — going everywhere where the band had grown up, etc. and went to Larry’s house (in a regular neighborhood with many houses around it) and as I was taking pictures his father came out and started talking to us. I told him that I was from Puerto Rico blah blah blah, and next thing you know, we’re INSIDE the Mullen House! I saw his childhood bedroom!
I will never forget Larry Sr.! What a wonderful man!
George Lynch was a fine guitarist, but Dokken had some of the WORST haircuts in a decade awash in big, bad hair.
Ringo Who?
The title of this thread should have “rock” inserted. You didn’t specify “rock” or “jazz” or “Swing”.
Ringo was a good timekeeper. He had to be, since he got his start backing strippers.
It can be any drummer, of any music genre or generation. Freepers have varied tastes.
Pearlman was also an excellent journalist back in the day for Creem magazine (also the home of Lester Bangs). But, he will be forever remembered for asking for "more cowbell" for the greatest song ever written about suicide.
Will be seeing RUSH in four more days!! And - this latest Snakes and Arrows tour (well, including last year’s which I saw, but it is the same tour) I think they are on top of their game. And, I’ll put in a plug for Carl Palmer. Favorite? Depends on if I’m into ELP or Rush at the moment!
Chevy Chase?! I didn’t believe you, but yes indeed (IMDB is my friend) ... but only as a “sit in” with the “Leather Canary”. I don’t think that counts. Close ... but not quite. ;)
(his brother cuts my hair)
The musicians best friend-—the drummer.
My vote goes to Tom Ardolino of NRBQ—the best-

Live video of Tom in action-—
Yep. Chevy attended Bard College in Annandale, NY with Fagan and Becker, and he was the drummer for the original lineup.
I saw Mike Portnoy (Dream Thearter) last night and he ROCKED. Big props for Danny Carey though.
do you mean Clark Griswold?
Speaking of Dan Aykroyd, doesn’t my fave drummer Bun E. Carlos look like Aykroyd in this video? (at 0:55)
