I have family members and friends who ping from one looming catastrophe to another. I really can't remeber hearing anything about ozone depletion recently. It seems the sheeple have moved on to a different premise, while I can only assume we will soon be baking in radiation caused by global warming. Any news to keep my fear level up. I just bought some SPF 99 just in case.

We fixed that by banning Freon.

Well, we were going to die due to rampant population growth (widespread starvation in the 80's), and the coming Ice Age was a serious threat, too. And we musn't forget Swine flu, Ebola, Bird flu, and AIDS. Yes, Ozone depletion will get us all, if Global Warming doesn't get us first. And by the way, the number of asteroids in near-Earth orbit is WAY more than we used to think, so, really, it's just a matter of time ...

One almost begins to think that this is all driven by sensationalism. But that couldn't be, could it?

If I remember correctly, the natural cycle of ozone narrowed over the pole and it fizzled out as an issue, though they like to claim their silly little ban on freon did it.

Your profile sez New Meeheeco. Shouldn't you be more worried about Reconquista then you are about AGW and the ozone hole? (If Bush and McCain have their way, you will be living en Nuevo Meeheeco.)

I really can't remeber hearing anything about ozone depletion recently.

That was the scam between "global cooling" and "Africanized killer bees"... Or maybe it was the scam between "lead paint" and... No. "Lead paint" was one of the first scams. I lose track. Anyway, the big scam going now is "global warming" (now known as "climate change", so that it's more of a catch-all).

Follow the money.

By the way, did you know that all the big D.C. law firms have hired scores of "global warming" litigators in anticipation of big-time political payoffs?

Always follow the money.

http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/beauty/sun-care/skin-cancer-prevention/7-new-ways-to-protect-your-skin-from-the-sun/

"(The) Earth's natural "sunscreen" has thinned. NASA scientists have discovered a reduction of global aerosols -- the blanket of particles (aka air pollution) that circle the earth and help block UV rays -- according to a 2007 study published in the journal Science. The decline has been steady since 1991. The skimpier the "blanket" gets, the warmer Earth becomes; some scientists speculate that it's a factor in global warming. The thinning may also hurt your skin by allowing more sunlight to penetrate. "Less pollution means more crystal-clear days -- and more incidental sun exposure," points out Darrell Rigel, MD, a clinical professor of dermatology at New York University Medical Center."

Once again, we suffer for misguided liberal policies.
