Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Two great teams who have earned the chance to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup!
There are a multitude of stories on the NHL website - http://www.nhl.com/
And on the Red Wings website - http://redwings.nhl.com/
And on the Penguins website - http://penguins.nhl.com/
This promises to be one of the greatest series in NHL history! Something for those who don't usually watch!
So spread the word, and do your part to recruit a new fan or two!
Both teams are great Dave. I agree, the Pens had the 2 man and couldn’t do it. Oh well, it’s not over.
One more thing. I see age and experience the difference.
Last year, “experience” was learning from the first shift in Ottawa that the playoffs are a whole different animal.
This year, “experience” is the relentless desire and ability of the Wings in the Cup Finals.
If guys like Hossa can be kept on this squad, with the young talent, the future is bright.
Such a miracle would be quite impressive.
Any way, hockey wil be done for the year before this week is up. Then come the sad lonely days in the Burgh waiting for the Steelers to open camp. If nothing else, the Penguins have given us 2 months we don’t have to focus on the miserable Pirates and their ridiculous owners.
I didn't see the spark of the youth tonight.
Funny, the coach was giving a chalk board play with 1:45 to go and Crosby was looking at him like he was nuts. As if to say, yea, we're gonna be able to get into that exact position.
But it was an enjoyable game.
And, I ain't quittin.
I see it as their superior stick handling and teamwork. The announcers called it "coaching." Those guys are wizards with their sticks, and time after time they just take it away from the Penguins. Earlier in the series the announcers talked about "intimidation with skill". It's the European style winning out.
Of course, it all depends on the refs enforcing the rules. Who was that big guy that played for the Flyers when they were so famous? I remember a playoff game where he was just standing their swatting guys down like some kind of ogre, and no calls. I remember the announcer fell silent for a moment, it was so blatant.
It looked to me like it was a double bank. On the replay, I thought it hit the post, then caromed off Fleury's arm and in. Of course, they play for the trash. They hit the margins of the cage with amazing precision. ( By "they" I mean all the teams, but Detroit looks like the best this time around. )
The Wings killed a long 2 man advantage without much effort and frustrated Crosby and Crew to the point that Crosby confronted Zetterberg after the game.
Lord Stanley's Cup will be at the Joe on Monday night.
Are you listening to tonight’s game?
I wonder if 55 will get an assist score for that. ;-)
He thought you needed some help.
Wings are lookin’ a little ragged in period 1. Coach will give ‘em a barbed wire enima in locker room. Beware Pens!
That had to really hurt.
Yes, ma’am.
OVERTIME!!!! This is awesome!! Great game-this is what I wanted to see ;)
Wow. Great game.
Well, we know the final score now.
4 to 3.
