One more thing. I see age and experience the difference.
Last year, “experience” was learning from the first shift in Ottawa that the playoffs are a whole different animal.
This year, “experience” is the relentless desire and ability of the Wings in the Cup Finals.
If guys like Hossa can be kept on this squad, with the young talent, the future is bright.
I see it as their superior stick handling and teamwork. The announcers called it "coaching." Those guys are wizards with their sticks, and time after time they just take it away from the Penguins. Earlier in the series the announcers talked about "intimidation with skill". It's the European style winning out.
Of course, it all depends on the refs enforcing the rules. Who was that big guy that played for the Flyers when they were so famous? I remember a playoff game where he was just standing their swatting guys down like some kind of ogre, and no calls. I remember the announcer fell silent for a moment, it was so blatant.
