Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Two great teams who have earned the chance to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup!
There are a multitude of stories on the NHL website - http://www.nhl.com/
And on the Red Wings website - http://redwings.nhl.com/
And on the Penguins website - http://penguins.nhl.com/
This promises to be one of the greatest series in NHL history! Something for those who don't usually watch!
So spread the word, and do your part to recruit a new fan or two!
0 -- Times the Red Wings and Penguins played each other this season -- and the number of times they've met in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It's the third year in a row that the Cup finalists haven't met during the regular season. The teams last met on Oct. 7, 2006, when Detroit beat Pittsburgh 2-0 on the first weekend of the season.
1 -- Number of times a team has come from more than two games down in the Final to win the Stanley Cup. Toronto lost the first three games in 1942, then won the next four.
2 -- Teams that have won Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on the road. The 1971 Montreal Canadiens were the last ones to do it, winning 3-2 at Chicago Stadium. The 1945 Toronto Maple Leafs also won Game 7 away from home, beating Detroit 2-1 at the Olympia.
3 -- Three-goal games in the Playoffs this season, all of which have been accomplished by Red Wings. Johan Franzen did it twice in the Western Semifinals against Colorado, and Pavel Datsyuk had his first three-goal game in the NHL in Game 3 of the Western Finals against Dallas.
4 -- Times the Penguins have shut out the Red Wings since entering the NHL in 1967. The last one came on April 11, 1999, a 3-0 victory at Detroit. The Wings have shut out the Penguins six times, including 2-0 in their last meeting on Oct. 7, 2006.

ATTA BOY AIRBORNE!!
Count me in for a case of Stroh’s in HockeyTown USA against what ever passes for beer in SteelTown.
The preview of this series in USA TODAY picked Pittsburgh to win in six games. I don’t have a real feel. All I know is that the girl at the gym tomorrow will probably be wearing her #66 jersey.
0 - Number of Canadien Opera singers who will sing the National Anthem.
Dobn’t forget that the Steelers won their last championship in Detroit so perhaps theres an omen there for the Pens.
NBC will cover the rest.
Detroit is the favorite.
The last 9 teams with home ice have won the Stanley Cup.
NHL Network has lots of player interviews, it being ‘media day’ in Detroit.
Good stuff for rabid hockey fans like me who are looking for a fix!

Here’s another omen. The Pirates beat the Tigers in the 1909 WOrld Series. ALmost 100 years ago.
They better hurry and finish this series because next year’s season starts in two weeks.

I have Detroit in 6. Think it will go 2 and 2 then Detroit starts beating up on the boy wonders.
I’d like nothing better than for Pittsburgh toend it quickly! 8^)
Like every other pro sport these days, the players are going most of the year.
Unlike any other pro sport, a hockey player will take 20 stiches to the face and return to play in the game!!
So get a jersey made up with # 69 on it!
Then ask her to guess what your favorite position is!
I think I’ll wait for the last 2-5 games, so I can catch them on HD. I don’t think VS. broadcasts in HD.
They usually do on DirecTV.
Thanks for asking. I haven’t been carded in over 50 years,
Prediction: Detroit in 5 or less. Fleury is no Turoc, not even close.
If you mean Marty Turco, no, he's much better.
But I guess you'll see for yourself tomorrow night!
