Thanks USA Network for NCIS Marathons
USA Network promo | 5/23/2008 | DGHoodini

Just a personal 'Thank You', to the Powers That Be, at USA Network, who are about to save me some $48 DL fees, by running two NCIS "marathons" this weekend on Friday and Monday...24 total episodes, 12 each day, of episodes I haven't watched yet. All ready set up to watch/record them. >8o)

Well, i’m hoping that the “director” will be replaced, or “exposed” as a nefarious black hat, or they are actually being given “covers” and their “unit” is going covert to be re-assembled at a new facility...or Gibbs will perform some National Security “miracle” by relyying on old team members, and as a reward, gets to reactivate his unit...but who knows? Maybe a couple of the cast, want ‘out’, and this is a way to bring in several new cast members, in one fell swoop...Guess we have to wait.

But as far as all boriing TV...Burn Notice returns on June 10th I believe, and there are a few other promising shows coming up for the summer season...Don’t despair! :o)

I never despair over TV. I have so many great books I would like to read during the summer .. I’m seriously thinking of getting rid of my “extended cable” - because NCIS is on a local station - and if 24 returns - it will be on a local station also (I hope).

I have caught a couple of Burn Notice shows - but I came in late to the program so I couldn’t seem to get with the story. But .. I do like the lead character .. so maybe I’ll catch on if I start watching from the beginning of the new season.

I love ‘Law & Order’ and ‘CSI: Miami’, and crime shows in general, but the past two years of closely following the malicious prosecution of the Haditha Marines (as well as other US military cases from Iraq and Afghanistan) have revealed to me that the real NCIS is so dishonest and corrupt that I cannot bring myself to watch the TV show of the same name.

Do you know how large it is ... I have broadband but my system is elderly otherwise and if it’s too big, may be a problem.

Thanks.

Thanks. Have to think about that - I only missed the first 15 minutes.

My stupid DVD recorder doesn’t always come on when I set it to record the digital channel - just freezes - and I forgot to check.

If I ask it to record the same show on analog - no problem. So assuming the digital sends a signal and at least for now the digital signal from CBS isn’t strong enough to “wake up” the tuner in my Panasonic recorder. It does fine on DirecTV but that isn’t asking it to change channels.

Still have an analog tv.

Going into all this detail in case someone else has the problem too. Am thinking I may need to actually manually tune to the digital channel before I turn the recorder off for time recordings. I’ll try that.

Just a couple more points for you to mull over:

While there is no membership or service fee to use Amazon Unbox, you *do* have to download their proprietary DL management software ( about 10 to 15 mb i think ) It manages the DL process, and your DL library, and keeps track of deleting your movie “rentals”.

And if you *do* decide to use the service for other shows or movies, It’s much easier to go through the ordering process, if you are a registereed ‘One Click’ customer, so you don’t have to fill out your CC data every time you want to DL a show or a movie.

I find the way I like to do it, is to buy and send to the DL Que the shows I want, right before bedtime, and then let them DL while i’m sleeping. Saves the grief of a “watched screen”, and doesn’t interfere with my awake time bandwidth.

Man! Maybe Amazon *should* be paying me! >;O)

Pauley Perrette a.k.a Abby Sciuto from the TV series NCIS.

She's a bit strange but makes for an interesting character and striking presence in the series.

Kinda cute, but she doesn’t “do it for me” in the same way that Amy Winehouse does (see my tagline).

Thanks for the details!

So, the $1.99 is a rental for what - one play? Can’t put on a DVD either I guess?

LOL! - Amy Winehouse is an amazing artist and puts cool back into R&B with her music but she’s too weird for me ;o)

I enjoy watching “Law & Order” and “NCIS” on USA Network, but I cannot stand those graphics that pop up in the lower corner of the screen, promoting the next program. Is it just me?

We’ve been watching NCIS all season on our computer because our children usually want to watch American Idol. Also, the episodes are usually available On Demand for a short period of time.

Thanks for the alert of the double marathon. Hubby is usually hard at work most weekends (on the computer—he’s a programmer), but we have managed to get him to take a break twice in the last few months when USA has had NCIS marathons. We never watched the show until earlier this year. It’s enjoyable to catch up on the whole storyline without having to buy the DVDs.

Hubby was so bothered by the season ender the other night that he wants to watch it again. I’m more patient. Who knows what the producers/writers have in mind for the next season?

Nope. the $1.99 is a purchase. You can watch it as many times as you want, for as long as you want. But they do have other programs/movies that are time limited.

The Unbox software includes a burn engine, and the software allows for “portable versions” to be DLed...So I suppose they *can* be burnt to DVDs, but I haven’t done so myself.

I really like this show too. I was considering buying it from Amazon, but I've seen most of the episodes because of the marathons. I also like 'The Closer' and 'Monk.'

I have in excess of twenty NCIS episodes on the recorder from a recent USA marathon..

I learned that recording all episodes of a series allowed a new experience in that a better feel for character development and interaction is possible. My first experience was with Homicide, Life on the Street and it is also true for NCIS.

But mostly, I get to see Abby. She’s my girl.

‘Amsterdam’, just finished it’s first season on CBS(?) this spring. Unbox has it’s episodes up allready, in case your curious.

The over-arching plot line is about a 1600’s Dutch immigrant to the New York area, then known as new Amsterdam, being critically wounded protecting an indian female shaman, who
uses magic to heal him...in the process gives him the onerous gift of immortality, that can only end, by meeting his soul mate, and then he will be able to die.

Main setting: Present day New York, the main character, has lived many “lives” (ala Flint from Star Trek TOS) and is presently a NYPD detective, whose knowledge of NY history, and his past experiences, benefits his crime solving ability, as he deals with his children and acquaintances, from previous “lives”.
