I just tripped and sprained my left wrist. I now have it in a wrist brace. How did I have a wrist brace so handy, you ask? I had sprained the same wrist earlier and still have the brace available. Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy.

What’s up with THAT? How did you trip? Outside on the trails? Getting off or on your BIKE? Rushing around somewhere?

Are you a serial tripper? :)

Hope it doesn’t hurt to post. We would miss your friendly fingers around here.

I am a serial tripper. If there is any hint of moisture, I slip and fall no matter what my footwear is and today, while I was barefoot!

The previous trip and resultant wrist sprain was caused by me tripping UP a step. I was distracted and missed it because I was watching a plane land.

Today I was on the web and the youngest called to me. As I was getting up, my toes (it is the custom here for everyone to leave shoes at the door and be barefoot inside) became caught in the headphone cord and I tripped.

About the shoeless custom, sometimes in the states I forget that it isn’t the custom there. More than one family has been surprised as I stop upon entering a home, brace against a wall and remove my shoes. Hahahaha!

Hey!!! No riposte necessary! But I have always been meaning to ask (and have been too lazy to look it up): Where does Auburn’s ‘War Eagle’ come from??? American Indian??? Weird mascot name?? Lousy car model that never sold? And don’t you hate it when people mistake Auburn for Clemson??? (hehehe) ;-))

And another thing:

I was thinking the other day about Nobama and how other US Senators through the years were much more qualified, and I had the notion: Ya know, even Dan Quayle was more qualified than His Nothingness.

Now, I know a little about Quayle, because during the Cold War he was our expert in the Senate deciphering what the SALT and START treaties really said. No one knew more about arms control treaties and Russian streategy than Dan Quayle, he was that good.

So anyway, just for fun, I thought I would do a search on Quayle just to see what the record was, and I was dismayed: just about every internet page on him was completely negative, almost all about 'gaffes', nothing about his talents and accomplishments. For example, Wikipedia is basically a playground for slander. But go to Nobama's page on Wiki, and behold a plethora of pabulum taken verbatim from his campaign website.

We let these libs do this to us. It's just not right....;-))

I’m sure that NO ONE gets Auburn and clemson confused.

The War Eagle mascot dates back to the War of Northern Aggression (the War Between the States). After the cessation of shooting hostilities a former soldier brought the golden eagle he had befriended during the war with him to campus. The student had found the wounded eagle, nursed him back to health and the eagle would soar above the battlefield and return to the man’s shoulder. After the war, the student would bring his “pet” to the football games and the eagle would soar above the field. It became known as Auburn’s “war” eagle. The student body, when seeing it, would begin the cry, “War Eagle!” The legend began.

Auburn down through the ages has had an eagle representing the school (off-and-on). The eagles have come to us as “not being able” (for one reason and another)to survive in the wild. They have all, and perhaps this has changed in recent years, been named “Tiger”. They are golden eagles and not bald eagles. However, we have recently been the home for bald eagles, too.

The expansion into other breeds is because Auburn’s Vet school (btw, the youngest daughter has been admitted to the Pre-Vet program) has a raptor reclaimation program and often works with many large birds to heal and rehabilitate.

Thank you for asking.

Cool. So you have eagles all named Tiger? And yet Clemson's mascot is the Tiger -- is it named Eagle?

(Umm, and why is it that Southerners ALWAYS think they have to explain to Yankees that 'The War of Northern Aggression' means The Civil War??? And especially since youse guys started it??? ;-))

I love the no-shoe custom. I adhere to it myself.

So, you’re just a bit of a clutz I guess. My best friend is the same. We laugh and laugh at her pratfalls.

I’ve always gone without shoes if I could. And yes, I am a klutz. But now it is getting painful.

Nobama is really bad for America.
