Macs also seem to be gaining ground in the corporate world. My son is in grad school and has taken a summer internship. He uses a MacBook Pro for school and loves it, but he’s a GA for the MIS dept. at the University, so he’s constantly having to deal with the problems encountered with MS platforms. The first thing he mentioned to us about the summer internship...the entire company uses Macs.

Mr G’s laptop died and he needed a new one *now*! He couldn’t find any without Vista, and after listening to him moan and groan about it I finally put him in the car, took him to the apple store, and MADE him buy a Mac.

The sea change is apparent but Microsoft has such a commanding lead in market share that it will still be years before Apple can ever catch up, even if Microsoft stays flat and Apple continues to increase Mac shipments 50% each year.

Still, Apple is in a nice position and their shareholders are in for a rocket ride. Even if the Mac sales level off, you still have iPods, iPhones and other Apple gadgets on the way.

Hmm... don't hear anyone stating that Apple is making too much profit on overpriced I-pods and that their profits should be taxed and the execs need to testify before congress... /sarc
