Bonus Questions
1. Last week's topic was change. What would you like to change about the Weekend Singles' Thread and would you be willing to do anything to help us implement that change?
2. What kind of animal best represents you?
3. What team are you pulling for in the Stanley Cup playoffs?
4. Since #3 is about hockey and so few people around here like hockey, I'll give a fourth bonus question. Regarding the whole "right and wrong" issue in difficult conversations, do you think the idea of not concentrating on "who's right and who's wrong" is more of a liberal idea, a conservative idea, or that both political ideologies have their share of that kind of thinking?
Bill
I’m really only here by invite, not by being single. But, I feel it is important to support my single FReeper FRiends. So I am willing to participate in the changes if I am still invited as a horny married woman.
I think the most difficult conversations involve things that expose our vulnerabilities or involve criticism or something that would damage our egos. I know that I, for one, am not a very diplomatic person. I usually just blurt things out and then regret it. In an effort to avoid being insensitive, I usually just keep quiet. I think most people try to avoid confrontation and just sweep things under the rug and hope they go away.
P.S. Go Pens!!!

Sorry, I had to say it. I'm a little grumpy. It's snowing. :(
I'm gonna go with my tagline on this one. :)
>>>3. What team are you pulling for in the Stanley Cup playoffs?
Ice Hockey should only be played in places when, and where it can be played outdoors. :)
Happily, I haven’t really had to have any ‘difficult conversations’ if you mean ‘awkward conversations’ instead of ‘trying to talk on a cell phone while there are firetruck sirens on your end of the conversation and 20,000 screaming sports fans on you friend’s end’.
Now, the bonus questions:
1 - Nothing in particular... I’m not thinking clearly now either though.
2 - A cat, since I’m laid-back and like lying in the warm sun and doing nothing.
3 - I’m not cheering for anyone in the playoffs, but that’s because I’m a Sabres fan.
4 - It seems to be more of a liberal idea, but pretty much everyone in the world could use to pick up on it. Trying to boil things down to side A versus side B always causes lots of trouble, and usually winds up making things even more complicated cause then you’ve got to try to fit everything into A or B, and everything doesn’t fit nicely into one or the other, so then you get into arguments just defining A and B, and the original issue gets pretty much lost at that point. So if nothing else, it’s an inconvenient way to try to argue.
Liberals love to talk about how non-judgemental they are but that is total BS. They love to trot out their "judge not" type Bible verses whenever it's convenient for them. When they are in the wrong and they know it (i.e., Bill Clinton Impeachment) they will quote their fav no judgement-let he who is without sin Bible verses. But of course they have no probblem making vile judgements on Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Ann Coulter, etc....
I am rooting for the Canada teams. I love the way their crowds are so into the game.
Thanks for doing the thread - sorry have not been around much this weekend but dad has his hormone injection on Thursday and has somewhat of a reaction to it so has been going to bed earlier and did likewise.
On the subject of right and wrong. There are situations where at the time this is irrelevant you have just got to deal with the result especially if health is involved. Afterwards it maybe necessary to explore the rights and wrong but often it dealt with and you know it will not occur again it becomes irrelevant and unproductive to dissect.
Answers to post # 2.
1) It’s fine how it is. Besides,... It’ll take more than a forum or chat room to get me back in the pool.
2) Depends on the day. Sometimes a bear and sometimes a bull.
3) As keeper of the ‘Hockey Ping List’, I must point out that there are many hockey fans here. And I’m the biggest Penguins fan of them all!
