Over the last ten years or so, I haven’t listened to more than one or two games each year. I was quite jaded by the Dodgers when they slashed and burned the team in the early 1980s. Their treatment of Garvey alone angered me considerably, and I haven’t been back yet.

This year I’m going to try to give the team a little more attention. I grew up a rabid baseball fan. It’s in my blood. It took quite a bit to kill my inclination to be a fan back in the 80s.

Thanks for the post.

Well, I would hope that his day is better than the Yankees’ day. They have started the season with a rain delay.

I’m one mile from Dodger stadium right now.

This morning they were mentioning three or four games that looked iffy. New York was one of them and the Chicago Cubs was another.

For me, it was the sale to a corporation as a business venture.

He’s gonna find out straightaway how hateful the Giants’ fans are - even in Dodger Stadium.

I’ve got to say that that was one of the things I really enjoyed about Lasorda. He knew the Dodgers were going to be booed by the Giants fans and he just played along with it knowing that rivalries are one of the joys of baseball.

And the Dodger fans are Saints?

PS... he lived in NYC and saw the Red Sox and Mets vs. Yankee rivalry for years. I think he can take it.

Mine was when Lasorda let Niedenfuer pitch to Jack Clark during that one game playoff. Clark was 0 for 24 and DUE against Niedenfuer. Never let a fast ball pitcher throw to a fast ball hitter when the game is on the line, much less the season.

I took every bit of my Dodger gear and burned it.

I used to get a lot of free food and beer when I would wear my Dodger hat and shirt to Candlestick when Tommy and the gang showed up.

Some of them could hit my hat with a piece of hot dog from the nose bleed section.....I was impressed. And the beer bath smelled the best.

LOL, I didn’t go quite that far, but I quit going to games and listening on the radio. I couldn’t have told you the name of one Dodger player this morning.

BTW, you’re right about that. No fast balls to a fast ball hitter when the penant is one the line.
