For those of you suffering from interrupted leep patterns... just a word of advise. Stayawy fro mthe Pepsi Max ( diet or otherwise), it has 69mg of caffeine in a 12 oz. can. Mr HOB wanted to try it - as if I needed to be any more wired than I am! LOL!!

Yep, Day After Tomorrow is pure sci-fi fantasy, but the dialogue was pure eco-nazi drivel. Supposedly, scientists trained in research methodology and hypothesis testing suddenly throw all that away when data doesn't 'look right' because 'the debate is over'! Plus the characters take turns using sarcastic mockery of each other when anyone says something even mildly outside the PC orbit...that and I thought Dennis Quaid sucks when he gets sanctimonious...;-))

Here's another movie that's not bad but the original was better: Fun With Dick and Jane (2005), with Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni. The original (1977) was waaay funnier, despite the fact that Jane Fonda was in it...and the scene where Ed McMahon (as George Segal's boss) fires him from his aerospace engineering job is hilarious...anyway, the Carrey version is easier to find at Blockbuster's...;-))

I have to read the book but I think 'Country' in NCfOM refers to Texas and law enforcement there. Tommy Lee Jones starts out as a grizzled police chief, going around doing his duty and caring about his work, but every day it seems his heart's not in it: each new murder scene seems more senseless, each new perp seems more psychopathic.

Then we later find out that his father was shot and paralyzed on the job as one of the 'old timers' he describes, and THEN we find out that Tommy Lee Jones' grandfather was shot on his own front porch in a senseless shooting back in the 30's.

So it appears to me that as Tommy Lee Jones takes all of this in, he comes to the conclusion that it doesn't matter how good a job you do, the bad guys are gonna win and evil will still be there. And so he decides to retire, and after that you can just see in his eyes that his life has no purpose and he is just waiting to die...a pretty grim thing to take from a movie...;-))

Oh yes, definitely see We Own the Night. The language is a little tough, but it is a very good film. The transformation of Joaquin Phoenix's character is great.

And if you like good action films, Shooter (2007), about a combat veteran, a top-level sniper, who is framed when a foreign dignitary is assassinated. It's kinda like Rambo With a Brain...;-))

LOL!! Only you could make me laugh at my many typos.... even though I usually proof, I am in such a darn awful hurry most of the time, I don't catch them!

Re: the movie; guess I don't remember the dialogue.

Seriously, Mr HOB won't go to the movies any more - he thinks Hollywood is too liberal and won't spend his money on 'em.

so many on here having sleeping issues.

those who do should list the meds they are taking - that can cause sleep problems right there.

Let me be first to say that I have to watch out for Claritin D. I get nightmares with it.

Thanks for the recommendations. I plan on renting both movies this week. We love run ‘n gun movies. Shooter sounds like our kind of movie.

Mozie suggested that I get tested for sleep apnea. The symptoms are close to what I have so that could be the problem.

All kidding aside, I may have to change pillows when I sleep. Often, I will watch TV with two pillow and fall asleep. I may have to get rid of one pillow before I drift off.

At this point, I'll try anything, including winning the lottery. LOL

When this gentleman speaks I pay close attention to what he say's and he is of the opinion that Osama Bin Laden is in the tribal area along the Pakistan border.

General Hayden: A clear and present danger...

"The situation along that Afghanistan/Pakistan border presents a clear and present danger to Afghanistan, to Pakistan, to the West in general and the United States in particular," Hayden said.

When someone tosses around the term "clear and present danger"..... we as a nation better pay attention...its code for a major military butt kicking is about to take place.

lysie, Mr HOB has severe sleep apnea. For several years, he would wake me simply because I DIDN'T hear him snore. Those were the times he stopped breathing. When I counted to 30 and had to nudge him to "start" him again, I insisted he go to the doctor.

When he was tested, he stopped breathing or came out of rhem sleep 246 times. The tech or doctor told him that was like being wakened every three seconds of sleep in a night. He also stopped breathing for the longest time this center personnel had seen; nearly a minute and a half.

It is not a good thing to have by any means. Mr HOB says he feels like a new person with his machine. I never see him not using it. Unless, of course, he is so tired when he gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, that he forgets to put his mask on again. Now, I wake up when I hear him snore.

This is only a problem, when I wake him up and he has his mask on. then we know I've mistaken the dog snoring for him!! LOL!!
