I don’t recommend Illinois, either, and I live here almost six months out of the year.
It has too many Libs, lousy weather, and some more Libs. Ha!
Hubby’s work and all the grandchildren keep us here, however.

Coopster’s wife’s commute to the city would be as bad or worse than his weekend travel, MM!

Molly, I’m sorry to hear of your Mom’s bed sore. Actually the vacuum is quite helpful. I had a friend who got staph from an operation on her leg and she was hooked up to one. It did take time, but did what it is supposed to. Hopefully you can get her to begin walking around a bit.

Good Morning Everyone....I’m still waiting for the rain, we’ve been promised 3 days now, but still no rain.

Now that video was enough to spoil breakfast. YUK She was put on this planet to save us from outselves. She will “fix” everyone’s woes and make them happy. She will take from us for the common good. She will increase minimum wage and take care of everyone. OH BARF!

Not good...not good at all considering all the troop movement in Syria, armoring up etc.

I’ll be soooo glad when daughter returns at the end of the month, although she’s flying to Britain from Spain for a few days to see a friend then will fly back and return home....thank goodness.

Have you been told what stage it is? ( 2, 3,...) I’m sure you’ve been told that these are the result of primarily pressure on the skin often in conjunction with poor circulation, immobility etc. They are more accurately called “pressure sores” as one can be acquired while sitting and not necessarily in bed....or the medical term is decubitus ulcer.

Certified wound care / ostomy nurses are often quite helpful in getting those things healed up as quickly as they are going to. Frankly, these wound specialists are often more up to date with the latest products and techniques than the doctors sometimes are.

Anyway, you might ask your doctor if your mom would qualify or benefit from consulting with one.

Nutritional support is very important for the healing required on pressure sores too, so I hope your mom is or can be persuaded to eat well. If she doesn’t eat much, perhaps some Ensure if you haven’t already tried it.

Mainly it’s trying to keep the pressure off the thing so it can heal, and yes it can be slow going, depending at what stage it’s at. However, there are some very successful products now that can help immensely.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the vacuum you refer to....it sounds like the wound is infected?

It’s good to know you’re seeing a little green leaf. The rest will pop up shortly. We were talking to an organic gardener in Lowes. She told us to plant a corn seed and then plant 4 climbing beans around it and whatever attacks the corn will be confused and whatever attacks the beans will be confused and won’t attack either. WELLLLL, we planted the corn and the beans around it.......the beans are up and growing and a couple of the corn seeds have sprouted, but the poor things are way smaller than the beans. She should have told us how slow corn is to sprout. It is fun being a “farmer”, there is a lot to know. I’ll be planting my salad garden tomorrow, I have all sorts of lettuces and when we go to Waco, I’ll get some more seeds of different colors. I’ll be planting the colorful and plain swiss chard too. Hopefully more of your beautiful plants will be popping up soon. OH, how hungry are the rabbits at this time?

Good morning. Electricity has been off throughout town for about 18 hours now. I’m at the school which has a generator. I won’t be here for too long. I have a funeral to attend today. It will be an all day thing. Hopefully when I finish, the power will be back on.

The green leaves, yes, they are encouraging. This past Monday I had my gardener chop off all the bushes on the outside of the fence. They had just grown too tall, plus, the custom here is to leave leaves on the top but cut back to the stems of the lower branches. You end up with tufts of green and sticks. Anyway, now I have sticks. But just this morning I saw some little green leaves poking their way out of some of the sticks. I will stay on the back of this gardener and nag him NOT TO CUT OFF THE LOWER LEAVES!!!! Next week, back to Introduction to Composting. It is a mind-set which hasn’t been developed.

Hi Iowa Granny,

My tulips are starting to grow and the daylilies are showing new green growth. The snow is finally melting as we have had 58 degree temps here the last few days with sunshine.

I am SO ready for Spring!!
