Maupin's remains found in Iraq THE ENQUIRER E-mail | Print | digg us! | del.icio.us! | Click-2-Listen
Sgt. Matt Maupin is dead, the parents of the missing Clermont County soldier said today.
Maupin's remain were found in Iraq, nearly four years after he was captured by insurgents, his parents said. An Army general came to Clermont County today to notify them, they said.
"Matt is coming home. He's completed his mission," his father, Keith Maupin, said.
The Glen Este High School graduate was taken captive on April 9, 2004, when insurgents overran his convoy. He had been driving a supply truck.
His captives released a video of Maupin within days after his capture, but there had been no news since. He was the only U.S. military member listed as missing in iraq.
Military officials identified the remains through DNA, Keith Maupin said. He said he wasn't told where the remains had been found.
"They found a shirt similar to what he was wearing," Keith Maupin said.
The Enquirer will update this story as more details become available.
Acorns don’t seem to fall far from the tree!
God speed, young man.....thanks from this family.....
I sure the U.N. and the rest of the International community will protest the murder of a CAPTURED U.S. warrior in uniform — and unquestionably covered by the Geneva Conventions..
No?
Yet they protest their asses off - over no murdered captives at Gitmo..
Put a hood on their head (which they often wear anyway in their home land) photograph them naked and playing with each other (which they often do in their homeland) — and all hell break loose with the bleeding heart anus orifices of the world...
