MELBOURNE, March 27 (UPI) -- Australian researchers have confirmed that people will make passes at those who wear glasses, or as they put it: People who wear glasses are not geeks or nerds.
"We have literally busted the myth that people who wear glasses are introverted or have particular personality characteristics," study leader Paul Baird of the University of Melbourne's Centre for Eye Research said in a statement.
"They are more likely to be agreeable and open, rather than closed and introverted."
Utilizing the University of Melbourne's Australian Twin Registry, the study involved 633 twins and a comparative group of 278 family members

Go for it Joe.
I said “women in glasses,” not “men in drag with glasses.”
Wow. Bailey from WKRP has always been on my "anytime, anywhere..." list.
Along with Sister Bertrille and Judy Jetson.
I wear glasses, and I am about as cool as it gets.
Flying a kite in an t-storm is a little nerdy; smart-nerdy.
I have worn glasses for driving since I was 16 (am now 35). I never really thought about how they make me look since I don’t wear them constantly (and since I’ve been married for 13 years and have 4 kids, I must not look too bad in them, lol).
Our 5 y.o. son has worn glasses since he was just over the age of two (incredibly farsighted, and possible lazy right eye). With his messy blond hair and spectacles, he looks like a fair-haired Harry Potter :) He is followed by 5th and 6th grade girls at his Catholic school—his dad calls them his ‘harem.’I like to think that the glasses add something to whatever charm the older ladies see in him :)
I'm anti-cool: by choice.
They really do? Cool.
Looks like a chairman on one of the democrat congressional committees.
That's as good reason to get glasses as I can think of. Like you, I got mine when I was a teenager, although I delayed getting them for at least 3 years. (needed at 13, got them at 16)
My eyes are extremely sensitive to light. Maui Jim polarized shades have the best technology out there for sunglasses. Ray Ban and Oakley don't even compare and I've owned both.
Or...
At the time, was there any other option?
An assistant.
I think the monkey would do a better job!
Surely couldn’t do worse!
Can you elaborate? Or do you have any links?
If you Google “myopia intelligence” you will find numerous studies, including some that even conclude there is no relationship.
You don’t have to trust me, but I will tell you there is a solid link between the two. I won’t get into the technical considerations of cause and effect except to posit that myopic individuals are more comfortable with, and predisposed toward nearpoint tasks including computer work, but most importantly reading and writing. This confers a significant advantage in learning, and the development and enhancement of intelligence.
As with any rule, there are always exceptions, but the trend exists.
