"While docked and onboard the International Space Station, a STS-123 Endeavour crew member captures the glowing green beauty of the Aurora Borealis March 21, 2008." (NASA/Reuters)
Now, THAT’S pretty!
I’ll second that.
That bears a striking similarity to the green plague of death cloud that was in the movie “The Ten Commandments”. It was when Moses was tleeing Ramases II about what would happen to Egypt if he didn’t let Moses’ people go free.
Looks like a typhoon is brewing too.

Burning bright
That was a stunning image, and one of my all-time favorite movies!
The Aurora Borealis is striking no matter what angle.
You watched the Ten Commandments last night, didn’t you? :) Great movie.
My wife & I had the dvd spinning last night. We’ve watched it with the commentary on before. It was very interesting that way. Great film. That couldn;t be made in these days. They’d PC it all to he!!.
I watch NASA Select TV a lot. In the past, I’d watch endless hours of downlink. On some flights, if the orbit permitted, you could see an aurora from orbit. Real neat, even through the low light camera in the cargo bay. You could even see meteorites shooting through the upper atmosphere. That was cool.
Algore
WOW!
Of course!
The extreme angle of he aurora on the horizon means the Shuttle does not travel to those latitudes. The aurora is overhead here and the Shuttle never clears the horizon. The green is too intense, the autora is pale green.
It certainly wouldn’t be the first time NASA has tweaked a photo with false color before releasing it.
Just mentioning the color in the interest of science. I used to use Ektachrome for star pictures because it brought out the star colors definitely, especially red and blue, much stronger than the stars actually appear.

Gee, and I thought it was all about Ghostbusters and getting slimed and not having to sit through a 4.5 hour movie every Passover/Easter.
