On the way to pick up number one grandson at the high school, I just happened to have a camera. I almost forgot I was headed for the high school, LOL!

The Great Blue Heron is in full breeding plumage, looking good! The White Ibis with brown splotches are last years chicks, about to get dumped when momma starts a new batch.

Beautiful! Kids don’t tend to appreciate when we forget them! They’ll live!

Saw a Great Blue the other day in our gut. He was after the first butter minnows, I think. Glad the rat terrorists didn’t see him! I’d have been giving three dogs a bath!

Are ibis the same as tick birds, or are those egrets? I can’t keep them straight. We have some of those here, too. See them more singly than in numbers.

The Cattle Egret also goes by the name tick bird in some areas.

Lovely, as always! (Just HAPPENED to have your camera? Yeah, right, LOL!)

Spring is nearly here, too! The Robins are back, as are the Sandhill Cranes. Unfortunately, so are the annoying, useless Grackles and Cowbirds. :(

The Swallows won’t be far behind, then my Orioles and Rose Breasted Grosbeak, too. :)

One of those beauties flies by my office several times a day during breeding season. I saw him for the first time yesterday here in Eastern Kansas.

Thanks! I know about flowers, not birds! Although both are beautiful!

Thank God mine are all self mobile! #2 son is a sr this year. About 3 more months of high school—and then he’s off to college!

There is nothing worse than forgetting to pick up a kid, and they NEVER let you forget it! LOL

I’ll never forget, when I was a kid in the 1950’s, riding in a fishing dory on the Kissimmee River and, coming round a bend, we’d startle a massive flock of flamingo like birds. The sky would literally darken. I never realized what a privilege it was for me to witness such a sight until I was older and saw it only on television with the rest of the world.

Wonderful, thank you for sharing.

I find it difficult to think that they are real, how lucky you were to see them.

And lucky us, that you had a camera.

Great photos, SS. I love to see Great Blue Heron’s fly. From a distance they look like pterodactyls in the sky.

Here on the Georgia coast we have woodstorks. When they are in the air, dinosaurs are the first thing that comes to mind! What an amazing world we live in. Thanks for sharing your pics SS, I know your neck of the woods well, and it always is a treat to take a little mental visit :}
