When the Snowy Egrets get all dressed up, and the Red Breasted Mergansers pass through on the way North, it's Springtime!

Okay, so I was off by a few seconds.

Snowy Egrets are exactly the kind of white that makes me ashamed every time I do laundry. It's like they have clorox for blood.

Thanks for the beautiful photos Swampy! It gives me hope for spring.

I still haven’t forgiven you for putting Helen Thomas in the birdhouse with my gorgeous toady. LOL - just kidding. :)

We’re on our way to four inches of snow today. Love global warming. :(

Beautiful photos! I’m sitting at my desk looking out the window at 15’ high banks of dirty snow. BUT, I heard a Phoebe a few days ago. (Possibly the world’s most monotonous-sounding bird).

Excellent pics.

A sure sign of spring at my house is seeing the flycatchers this weekend returning to clean out their old nest in the rafters of my front porch as they get ready to nest. I've watched them for fours years now. They usually raise 2 clutches of young with 3-5 in each clutch.

I thouroughly enjoy sitting in my rocker on the porch and watch the parents endlessly catch bugs and worms in the front yard and return to feed their young. If I sit or walk too close to the nest, the parents sit at the end of the porch bobbing their tails and wait for me to move.

Within 4-5 weeks the youngun's fly the coop and the couple start over. It sure makes a mess on the porch, but I'll gladly clean it up in exchange to watch this annual rite of Spring.

I am covered in clorox “smell” from cleaning and laundry right now!

Your remarks really hit home...we can not match nature!
