Woman sat on toilet for two years

A WOMAN in US has spent two years stuck to a toilet before her boyfriend finally called for help.

The woman, who has not been named, initially refused medical help, but was convinced by emergency services and her boyfriend that she needed to leave the bathroom and go to hospital.

Sheriff Bryan Whipple told AP it appeared the 35-year-old woman’s skin had grown around the seat.

"We pried the toilet seat off (the toilet) with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital," Sheriff Whipple said. "The hospital removed it."

"It is hard to imagine. ... I still have a hard time imagining it myself."

The boyfriend told police he brought the woman food and water and asked her to come out of the bathroom everyday, AP reported.

And her reply would be, 'Maybe tomorrow'," Whipple said. "According to him, she did not want to leave the bathroom."

He eventually called police only to say there was “something wrong” with his girlfriend.

Police found the woman in the bathroom of the 36-year-old man’s flat, sitting on the toilet with her tracksuit pants around her thighs.

That's what happens if you leave Dante's Inferno for reading material.

Here’s a blog that mentions it:

Check out the response by “Zipper”. Says he knows the guy.

Trust me. If this story is true there is no sense in filing criminal charges. No application of law enforcement can have any effect on these people. Their existence alone is their own worst punishment.

But I doubt that this is true. Seriously.

Wasn't there a Brady Bunch episode about something like this?

Why? There’s people that won’t leave their rooms for many years due to some odd phobia. So why not a phobia that prevents someone from leaving the bathroom?

I’d like to know what she was reading. It must have been awfully interesting.

The Encyclodia of Middle Earth. My Husband's literary favorite.

Maybe not leave the room, but sit on a toilet? Sleep there? I’m really feeling the BS meter twitching on this one.

I’m wondering if she’s morbidly obese and they’re leaving that part out for some reason.

Sometimes, SANE people with severe mobility issues will suffer very uncomfortable situations (like sleeping on a toilet seat) to avoid more intense pain, like walking on severely damaged joints. I have had family members who have done strange things to avoid triggering chronic pain. While there is no indication that this woman suffered in this manner, there are indications she may have suffered mental problems, which can create other motivations for aversion to movement.

I guess I'm just saying that I can easily envision someone screwed up enough to stay there for a couple of weeks....and once you commit to a couple of weeks, you've already experienced 90% of the discomfort; the rest is ennui.

Plus, it appears there is a more local news source about this story: http://www.hutchnews.com/Todaystop/toilet2008-03-11T20-13-03

I wondered that too. Reminds me of the story from my home town a few years ago. A woman, maybe about 500 lbs, actually fused to her couch. She died while rescuers were trying to separate her from it.

I can't think of any other reason why she stayed on the toilet for that long, unless she just couldn't get up on her own. Sad, sick story.

I do not care how many sources you have. This is a fake story.

Why?

Say, didn't they make a Nip Tuck episode about that? Or was it one of those Law & Order ones....

You were right — Nip Tuck had a story line about it in the third season. Very touching episode, back before the show jumped the shark.

War and Peace poerhaps? Although one wonders if "War and Peace" would has been as highly acclaimed as it was if it was published under it's original name "War---What Is It Good For?"
