On the surface to a casual observer the 2008 Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame class appears to be fairly strong and rather non-controversial. Three of the five artists being enshrined in the main performer category are very well deserving, including one of the most dominant artists in rock history. They also have seen fit to give overdue recognition to some long eligible figures in other categories and so on the whole this year's inductees are a solid group deserving of their honors.

So, does Madonna still feel Like a Virgin?
Dave Clark Five? Are you s(censored) me? What next, the Archies?*
*I think Don Kirshner, who really was "The Archies" may be in the hall already.
That ship sailed a long, long time ago.
Since madonna made it can john denver be far behind.
Why are there so darn many soul acts in the “Rock’n’Roll” HOF? Soul is fine, but it ain’t rock.
In all serousness, we would have been better off had Wakeman become a classical pianist, and Jon Anderson not ever gotten behind a microphone.
Jan Wenner remains a pillow biter...
I’d take Slim Whitman over any of these marginally talented selections
“Rock and Roll” is actually different from “Rock”. All of the music forms included in the Hall of Fame were either influenced by Rock and Roll or influenced Rock and Roll.
Yeah, unbelievable that Chicago isn’t in there.
Not to mention the entire GENRE of progressive rock. No King Crimson? No Yes? No ELP?
Isn’t there a word beyond pathetic to describe the losers behind this charade?
Madonna and John Mellencamp?
Maybe in the (bubble gum) Pop Hall of Fame.
Looking over the previous induction years, I think this is the worst class ever (and probably the only bad one). Definitely not going to help the Hall raise money.

Leonard Cohen is folk! Who’s next — Buffy St. Marie?
He'll get in next year, with Rick Springfield, Debbie Boone, and the Weather Girls.
John Mellencamp = overrated asshat
A 1963 Ventures Model Mosrite can bring $11,500.00!
The Ventures....Turn the volume way up and roll the windows down!
So she is better then Chicago.....Oh OK....must be my poor taste in music:-(
If any other band from the first “British Invasion” deserves to be in the Hall, it’s the SEARCHERS! The DC 5? Give me a break!
That's not true. When the Grateful Dead were inducted, Jerry Garcia (still alive and performing at the time) didn't even show up. The rest of the band brought a lifesize cutout of Jerry instead.
“The rest of the band brought a lifesize cutout of Jerry instead.”.....
A life size cutout of Madonna would work. At least she wouldn’t sing!
