I was thinking that it was likely to be that, also.
I would really like to know that our Marines would not stoop to that level, even if the video was fake. Even faking that is NOT funny and they have to know how it would reflect on the Marines.
The other question I have is why on earth anyone would videotape themselves doing something like that when they know what the consequences would be. That makes no sense.
I wonder if someone would judge your actions so harshly?
Fake or not, the propaganda value of this trash is terrible. If these are real marines they should have their heads handed to them. If these are fakes they should be treated the same, convicted of a crime if applicable. This is the sort of crap that bludgeons our reputation.

Yep career NCO in EOD, retired now. That troop would be in deep hurt mode for having enough time to make such a video in the first place, second for bringing the service to the press in a bad light. Stuffed toy, Dead Pup or not he’d wish he’d been that dead pup after working the BS details I could think up for him over 30 days of grief and doom time.
He needs to be guarding the landfill off the end of the island at Adak AK......:o)

I agree it looks like a fake.
First: How did they cut away to a second camera? They sent somebody down the hill with another camera just for that take and then edited it together? Not buying it.
Second: The uniform looks wrong. Not the right camo pattern, or actually, no camo at all. Maybe it’s some other country’s forces?
Third: the yipping sound doesn’t seem to get farther away as the “dog” falls. It sounds like somebody still next to the camera.

The Marines have tracked this to a guy now stationed in Hawaii and are investigating. I’m waiting to see what they find.
The "puppy" is not seen ON LAUNCH but BEFORE and AFTER LAUNCH.

Funny that you mention Al Qaeda, because this is the kind of nonsense that I’d expect from those animals. He should be promptly kicked out of the Marines, maybe do a little time of some sort, and probation. No idea if any of this is possible via the UCMJ, but it seems like the right way to go.

Al Qaeda would being tossing LIVE HUMANS as in woman and children off bridges, or slashing them, or beheading them in a market places perhaps not to mention blowing them up not dogs. In that respect we are talking about human life which they do not value.
