Well, I’m hoping that video is a fake, but it looks real and alive to me. That would be a truly despicable act.

The sound of the yelping just sounds too fake to me and if you watch the puppy tumbling in seems to disappear as it is going downwards.

Also it looks like a 3rd person is supporting the animal as the first soldier cocks his arm back.

You sick POS, he's a Marine and he did something stupid. He is over there fighting our war. He is not going to come back and harm you or your family. You are far more likely to be harmed by the pimply faced meth addict who works part time for the local house painter.

I've seen a hundred times worse from the slack jawed misfits hanging out at the bowling alley. I've put down my share of animals and sometimes in very unpleasant ways. Some of the things I've had to do have had me retching for an hour afterward. Sometimes not. This was a dog. A damned dog.

To wish a painful death on an American serviceman for that is disgusting and insane.

“I’ve put down my share of animals and sometimes in very unpleasant ways.”

But he enjoyed it.

God willing.

That was nothing more than a young man’s bravado. He shouldn’t have done it but it registers a .2 on a scale of 1 to 10.

What a sorry man if that’s what he has to do for bravado.

Yeah -that’s bravado. Would you let your daughter marry that creature?

There’s nothing there that indicates it’s fake....the dog is clearly not dead when he holds it up, there’s not obvious break for an exchange, and there is the yipping as the dog is in mid-air. someone alluded to a “third person” but if you pause the video that’s clearly a shadow of the “man” on the rock behind him.

Secondly, if somehow it is a very clever fake, it’s an incredibly stupid stunt to fake and does nothing to help the perception of U.S. troops at home or abroad.

Either way, he needs a very stiff consequence.

But no, it’s almost certainly not fake - you just wish it were....as do I.

I respectfully disagree. On a scale of 1 to 10, what he did was about a seven — so quite a bit more serious than just a stupid prank.

There is a well-established link between the way people treat animals and the way they treat humans. An early sign of psychopathic behavior is mistreatment of animals. I would not want him for my next door neighbor.

If he started throwing puppies around in New Zealand (or in the US I suspect) he and his mates would be facing serious charges and a heavy fine — possibly imprisonment. And the thorough disapproval of anyone who knew him: he’d find a shortage of people to sit with at the local pub, all his mates would suddenly forget who he was.

That man does not deserve to die a horrible death, nor does he deserve his legs blown off with IEDs. He *does* deserve well-earned approbriam and disgust, and to have his @rse handed to him by his superior officers as he is booted out of the Marine Corps for conduct unbecoming.

Al Qaeda must love footage like this, even tho’ they have no time for dogs. They couldn’t buy this kind of propaganda at any price.

I hope YouTube yanks the video: it does the Marine Corps no credit, and they are undeserved victims in all this.

If the puppy were dead, his hind legs would have been hanging down. Instead, the hind legs were up, meaning a live dog was holding them up.

It's a fake. I recognize that as a fake dog sold in magician supply stores for magic acts, and lots of soldiers in Iraq do magic tricks for fun. Besides, in Islam dogs are unclean just like pigs are. The only dogs allowed are guard dogs. Why would there be a purebreed dog in Iraq? There are only working mutts there.

Never been to Iraq so I would not know first-hand. Didn’t certain parts of Iraq have fairly wealthy people hanging around with lots of oil money to buy things like fancy cars and purebred dogs?

Pakistan has a Kennel Club, I don’t see why Iraq couldn’t have had one, at one time. Maybe they still do.

Dogs are unclean and are only allowed as guard dogs. Would those wealthy Muslims buy purebred pigs to surround themselves with?

Actually, it's not terribly unusual for Iraqis to have dogs for pets. Cats and birds are popular pets as well.

Pets aren't nearly as common in Iraq as they are in the US, but they're certainly not unheard of. I have a couple of Iraqi friends who have dogs for pets and those dogs are every bit as pampered as pet dogs in the US are.

The puppy’s paws are tied with rope, unfortunately.

That serviceman is a disgrace to the United States armed forces. How do you know he won’t come home and abuse his pets, family, children? You think decency is turned off and on. I hope we read of a court martial. He may represent your values, but he doesn’t represent the United States as many of use feel it should be represented.

That’s only the view of a tiny minority of Muslim extremists. Lots of Muslims own dogs, including my neighbors.

Iraq wasn’t under Sharia law, even under Saddam Hussein. And even in Iran, there are plenty of people with pet dogs — there they face a fine for owning them.

Pakistan has a kennel club: and Pakistan is chock-full of Muslims.

I believe the dog was dead (it looks dead, it’s not moving at all, and there’s a telltale limp jiggle just before he throws it, also the other guy goes to “pet” the dog but stops short of touching it). Even so, it’s a really stupid and rather disgusting joke, especially since everyone’s always looking for stuff to criticize our soldiers over.
